Expensive knowledge

Nurses General Nursing

I just love buying nursing books, subscribing to nursing magazines, reading about nursing areas that arent related to my specialty just out of pure curiousity,I also enjoy buying and listening to audio tapes by MEDED,which are review tapes for recertification in various specialties like med.surg, emergency, geriatric, and this at my own expense,no way the hospital will reimberse me,how ever it is a small tax write off at the end of the year.

So I might spend a $1000.00 a year.

I feel this information keeps me thinking and current, but at the same time perhaps Im taking it to far,the expense part.

Any one else do this?

I guess it depends on your financial status. myself living from day to day it wouldnt be a good idea, but if you can afford it I dont think there is anything wrong with that. You could always sell them on e-bay or here on the board for discount when you are done with them. If you enjoy that, go for it. I think its great, and with I could to

Although my finances don't allow that much, I goto the library at the hospital and photo copy like crazy, having 5 plus huge binders organized full of info which I rotate and bring to work in a small binder.... I'm obsessed with knowlege and love it.... so yeah, I do it too! But it hasn't helped my spelling !
