Nurses General Nursing

Hello out there...Can anyone tell me what to expect for LPN entrance exams. I have reviewed an old one I sent for but I would like some input. I am an older student and want to be prepared by maybe taking a class or two. Thanks in advance !

The content of your LPN entrance exam should be based on your general ed type stuff. Math, reading comprehension, ability to write (probably a very short essay on a random topic), grammar, punctuation, etc. I don't think it's stuff you can really go and 'cram' for.

Some schools give the NLN exam and I've never had to take that, but have heard it's general knowledge content as well. They know you're not a nurse yet!

I just finished LVN school and mine was given by the school and created by the school so I can only speak from experience. It's not something to really sweat. I'm sure you'll do just fine!

Best of luck,

Julie

When I took my entrance exam 3 years ago, it was merely a test to determine whether or not I was"literate." This is to say, all this test consisted of was reading, math, and word comprehension. Of course I live in NC and maybe things are different here. Also, the NLN is not associated with the "entrance exam!" The NLN is administered to nursing students in the US at the end of each semester to rate them among other colleges and students in the US. My first NLN exam tested knowledge of basic patient care, which was our first semester focus. Second semester we were tested on OB/ neonate material. Our third semester exam consisted of med-surg. That was probably more than you wanted to know, But hopefully it is of some help. Good luck! You've made a wise decision to become a NURSE!

Hello,

When I went to LPN school I had to take the NET (Nurses Entrance Test) to get it. All that was on there was some reading comprehension and some basic math along with some basic Algebra. They stressed that they didn't look too closely at the Algebra though. I did review my math a little bit, and I did just fine.

Good luck!

Christine

Yes i just took The LPn entrance exam in the state of Ohio. There is no passing grade instead they score you on a percentile rank of other students and if you dont get in the 60th percentile you have to retake the exam. There is reading comp, math, science and English. The math consists of fractions decimals, converting, percents, algebra, things like that. The science i found difficult, because it wasnt like regular science it is nothjing you can study for.But i think only your reading comp and math counts toward wheter you pass it or not.I hope this helped you out some.It is really not a very hard test.Youll do fine and good luck.
