CTA to RN

  1. Hello everyone, I just passed the NCLEX last week. My orientation does not start for another two weeks. Throughout school I worked as a CTA and am scheduled to continue working this job up until orientation. I will be staying in the same hospital but switching units. Now that I am officially a registered nurse, will I be getting paid as a CTA or RN for these next two weeks?

Some of the nurses I work with brought this up without me even thinking about it. They said I would be getting RN pay. I also called payroll and I am currently listed as RN pay. I am wondering if it was a mistake that they already switched me over and they will end up putting me back as a CTA for these 2 weeks. I don't want to keep my hopes up of a much larger paycheck if this is most likely a mistake!

I would think your RN pay would be effective the official start date of your RN job.

I am with Here I stand. You should get your CTA pay until you start your job as an RN. Your current position is that of a CTA, once you start the RN position you would be paid for the level of work as an RN
