I am an lpn in florida and my boyfriend wants to become a cna. He has a misdemeanor simple battery charge in 2004 and a DUI in 2007. He asked for my advice on if he can even get a license and if he does, can he find a job? He has spent a year trying to get a job in his previous profession, which is retail, and can not be employed. He was adjudicated guilty so there is no hope for expungement. He is currently on probation for the DUI. The battery was a stupid fight between him and his brother, who was over the age of 18 at the time, and it was only a slap. He has gotten help for alcolism since and is in AA program offered at Salvation Army. If anyone has any advice or knowledge about his ability to get license or job, please let me know. Some sites say he cannot work with violent offenses and some say only if they under Florida satute 435, which it not. PLEASE HELP, WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!

I have a DUI on my record... Not a proud moment at all... My first husband died from a brain tumor 4 years ago and I did not deal well with that... Got drunk and drove... I am not proud of this and regret it often... I have told all my employers about this and I have never been rejected from a job... I already had my RN lisense, so I don't know if this is an issue for someone trying to get thiers... We are all human and make mistakes and hopefully they don't bite us in the orifice later in life... Good luck to you...
