I was wondering, do clinics hire new grads. or only people with experience? I want to do clinic only when i graduate. is that asking for too much or is it possible? I know clinic nurses get paid less and do clinics even hire nurses. what are the places a RN can work anyways? I'm so lost and confused right now. Nursing right now is not what i expected it to be...so should i quit now or continue, since i already went through so much. but i just don't feel comfortable and not sure if i like it. any suggestions.

I don't necessarily have any advice for you right now, but I can completely relate. I just graduated after 5 long years of school to get my BSN. I worked as an CNA in the hospital for a few years and knew that I didn't want to work in the hospital as a nurse. I had an internal struggle with the idea of pursuing a non-hospital nursing position after graduation. I felt very lost and thought that if I didn't work in the hospital I wasn't as smart or as important as my colleagues working in the hospital. As there are many good parts to hospital nursing, I wasn't interested for numerous reasons. I often felt depressed and anxious and knew that I didn't want to feel like that or deal with a lot of the issues that come with hospital nursing. I am currently looking for outpatient nursing positions, and with the economy it isn't the best of circumstances, BUT I have a good idea of what I want and I know I'll eventually get it! :) My best advice is to continue to study hard, get experience in areas that are of interest to you and trust your gut. I know it seems like the road to happiness is tough to find right now but your hard work will pay off. Trust yourself and make decisions that are best for YOU.

I work in a clinic as an educator. Few RNs are hired-more MAs are hired. The normal requirement to apply is 3-5 years of experience in health care before they will even LOOK at you. They don't hire new grads.

So the minimum requirement is couple years of hospital or something in that sort work experience to qualify to work for clinics? You trying to say that I will have no chance of getting a job in any other areas of the healthcare system, I would have to start with Hospital as a new grad?

There are plenty of new grads on here who can't find hospital jobs and are applying (and getting jobs) in clinics. I've seen several posts recently, in fact. There are clinics who will hire new ones and those that won't... same with hospitals right now. Don't give up.

In the 4 states where I have lived-ND, CO, ID, WI-the clinics were not hiring new grads-it may depend on your region though.
