Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi all. I need some advice I'm stuck in a big rut. I qualified as an RGN in 2014 and have since worked in stroke and neuro, a&e, practice nursing and most recently urgent care telephone assessment, also the odd bit of agency work. Over the last year in particular I've really struggled to settle. I know I've moved around quite a bit in 3 years but at each post I've felt held back, burnt out by shifts, soul destroyed and fed up for various reasons. Prior to nursing I worked for over 7 years as an auxiliary so i was no stranger to health care. In my current job we are required to complete 2 modules of training before being able to work as a nurse, I've completed the first but have just been told they have delayed the second by another couple of months (it was supposed to be last week).

So now I'm faced with having to pick up ad hoc hours non nursing paid until they decide to run another module.

This is has really thrown me and it feels like the last straw. It's safe to say I've found the last 3 years incredibly stressful and am currently having counselling for anxiety and depression.

I honestly don't know if i want to be a nurse anymore but I have no idea what to do now. If I left nursing I'd have to consider the financial implications of potentially starting a new career and this is all just increasing my anxiety. Can anyone offer any advice?
