Body Mechanics

  1. Hey, I have a question. Today was the first clinical day that I had to do a lot of lifting of a relatively heavy patient (I was smart enough to get someone to help), and I realized that I was using my back instead of my legs and also my lifting wasn't very effective (I was having to expend a lot of effort and not getting a good bit of lifting accomplished). I want some tips on how to use your legs in lifting, b/c my lower back is pretty sore right now!! Thanks everyone... I know I can't lose my back this early in my career!!

There is some new information on "No-lift" policies. I will see what I can find. In the meantime stick your backside out! No you don't get more kicks that way..... It does help you lift and wear trousers to work in as you will lift and bend differently in a skirt. (OOPS assuming you are female!)
