Best Route To Be a Nurse.

I have a Biological Science Degree. Do I have to complete all the prerequisite before enrolling. I have two (A/P I/II) that I need to complete. Should I apply to an undergraduate nursing school, an accelerated program, or a hospital base training program. Which will be the fastest way to complete?

Well it depends if you have all the prereqs? micro,chem,anp1and2,speech,2 languages, speech, and exploratories. Most schools will require these. If you only have a year until your bachelor degree I would finish it out and do an accelerated program after that? It depends where you live also? I live in CA and nursing programs are so difficult to get into, so I took another route completely different than this! Best of luck to you!:p

I live in NJ. I finished my degree in May. I have not taking AP 1 and 2.

Go to the websites and find out the pre-reqs - they vary by program. An accelerated program will definitely be fastest to complete. The local county colleges are much less expensive but have a year or two, maybe longer waiting list AFTER you finish your prereqs. Possibly not Middlesex - heard they took the top scorers on a qualifying test and that was it. Not sure though.

Look at the deadlines - you might be able to make UMDNJ accelerated summer 09 if they take you. You can be taking prereqs after application as long as completed before you start nursing school.

Some of the hospital schools have fantastic clinical components and very high NCLEX pass rates.

Hi! I'm new to this site and I joined because I also need information on many things. I'm a second-courser RN in the Phils. and I just passed the June 2008 NLE. I'm 48 years old, male, married, and have a daughter who is also an RN. Question: What's the easiest route for us to take to the US considering the visa retrogression? Is it possible for us to become licensed LPN's or maybe even caregivers while we await the retrogression problem be solved? Both my daughter and I have US visitor visas valid till 2010. 2nd question: If we take a dialysis training course in the Phils., is it going to be recognized in the US, or is it better to take a dialysis course in the States? Thank you and I hope that someone here will take the time to read this and hopefully post some helpful info and hints. More power to all nurses everywhere!
