My husband wants to get a B.S. in Health Science Degree. What type of work can one hope to get with this degree? What are the career possibilities and salaries for one with this type of degree? Thanks for all responses! :nurse:

I don't think the opportunities are that great. These are basically the "patient educator" spots at the hospital or at the health department and you know what happens to these positions. The pay is often PIT-I-FUL. Nursing is where it is at, if he wants a marketable job skill and halfway decent pay. He really needs to do some research about the availability and pay of health educator positions in your area before he spends 4 years sweating towards that degree. ;)

Hi VickyRN, :)

Thanks for your input, and I will pass it on to my husband.

He is already a nurse, but doesn't want to work in nursing anymore. Currently, he is training medics for the Army. He enjoys the teaching aspect of it all though. His main goal is to become a Health Administrator. He wants to be a CEO of a hospital where he is in complete control. Management is his strong point, so he really wants to pursue that. Again, thanks for the information.

If he wants to be a CEO (CNO, CFO, etc) then he definitely needs to pursue a MBA. Just a Bachelor's won't do... competition is pretty fierce. You may want to PM ainz, since he is a nurse and also a CEO. I may be very wrong, but from what I have seen, a Bachelors in Health Science is pretty worthless.

Thanks again Vicky! I'll email my husband your comments as they make perfect sense to me too. :)

My spouse is a nurse administrator already because he has a BSN, but he is working on his Masters in Health Care Administration.

I think this might be the way to go, there are Bachelor's Degrees in Health Care Administration that he might want to look into.

My spouse is doing a completely online master program that is very intense. I'll get the info. on the bachelor's program if your interested.
