Just a quick ?? How long does it take to get ACLS & PALS? I am interested in both and also wondered about cost? My employer will pay for it, but I just want to know.

I just took my ACLS recert yesterday. The initial ACLS class that I took 2 years ago was 3 days long. I think it is down to two days (eight hours/day) for the initial class now. You should know basic arrhythmia before you go to class. The ACLS renewal course is 1 day of 8 hrs. The cost was $85/ for the class, plus the cost of the text (about $55 for the ACLS text & workbook, and the little pocket guide to algorithms). I am not sure about PALS. I took ACLS through the local community college. Good luck.

I noticed you are from the Chicago area- me too! I just took the PALS course a few weeks ago- it was a two day course. I work at Childrens hospital in Chicago, and they paid for it, so I don't know how much it costs. Why don't you call them and see if they offer PALS to nurses not employed at Childrens?
