We currently use disposable bovie pads and are looking at switching to the Megadyne gel pads. Would love to hear your feedback regarding likes and dislikes of each.

Have never used Megadyne's gel pads, but after seeing what some of our disposable ones look like after the blood bath of trauma/ emergent surgery, there's no way you're putting me on a reusable one that's been through that! We've had no issues with any of our disposable ones.

The megadyne gel pads are awesome although you still needs disposable for prone position.

Megadyne pads are expensive and need replacement after 5 years (I think). Conveniently plugs in and easy to use (no more going under drapes or avoiding metal implants to ground patients). Disinfecting is no different then wiping down the OR bed. Contraindicated for prone or lateral positions.

After working some very bloody trauma's overseas I do not know how you would use regular electrode pads on some of them. With how bloody these traumas were I would not want to drape dive and replace one that came loose. There was just now where to place them and get good contact. If you clean the pad proper there is no diffence then using the same bed.
