for Geisinger Health System employees

Published

I was offered a job at Geisinger Health System and am not sure if I should accept or not. It would mean a bit of a move for me but that is a move I think I'd be willing to make if it's worth it. Anyone currently employed here and have any input on the system there? I am currently employed in a hospital in which I am very unhappy... unsafe patient/nurse ratios, mis-treated by management, etc etc. I like the idea that this is a magnet hospital. Also, what is the city of Danville like? Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Specializes in Peds, Med-Surg, Disaster Nsg, Parish Nsg.

Moved to PA Nurses forum for more responses.

Specializes in LTC, CPR instructor, First aid instructor..

Danville is a small town, but it is located about an hour from Wilkes-Barre, which is a fair size city. I was a patient at the Geisinger Medical Center, Cardiac part not long ago, and I have only excellent remarks to say about the food service, the atmosphere, the visiting hours, the way the nursing staff treats the patients, and even the doctors. Everyone and everything was to my liking. It was the best hospital I have ever been in, and I was even in Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center -- The Neurological Institute.

What area were you offered a position?

I just got a job at Geisinger Wyoming Valley as a Student Extern - there isn't a lot to do in this area (I live in W/B-Scranton area) - I think its a decent system to work for - so far...depends on the unit you're on...

whats a good unit to work on
