GCU Summer 2012

Hello,

My name is Keisha and I am currently taking the prereqs for GCU's summer 2012 program. Is anyone else thinking about applying?

My first choice is the program at St Joe's.

Specializes in Women's Health.

I went to the student portal, but it says I'm not enrolled in any classes.

I'd ask your admissions counselor!! Since we're in st. joes it's probably the same. But for the 1st 8 weeks I have NUR 206A from 8-12pm and NUR 209 from 9am-1pm!

I just looked up mine. Looks like for the main campus we have classes on Mon and Wed from 7am-10:45am...I better get used to those early hours before school starts! lol

I'm getting excited! May will be here before we know it. :nurse:

Only 26 more days until I am officially a nursing student! I was kind of getting used to the 2 day schedule. After going to orientation today, I found out that we actually go 4 days per week. The other 2 days are lab/clinicals etc. But, I'm just happy to be enrolled in a nursing program. I'll feel much better in December 2013!

You guys have class four days a week?? We have it two days a week with labs and lecture on the same day.

Yep! We don't have full days though (every once in awhile). Even our clinicals are half days. We go M, T, Th, and F - usually 4 hrs a day.

Your clinicals are half days?!? Wow...interesting. So you do two clinicals a week when we start? She said most of ours are from 6:30 am -6:30 pm and again, she is trying to make them all on Tuesdays.

Our clinicals will be Th and F. We will have clinicals 6 hrs per day.

Wow, makes it seem like you guys have a "busier" schedule that way, but you do have shorter days.

I know! I like the main campus' schedule better. But, I chose St Joes because my friend in a previous cohort told me that if you choose the St Joes campus, you have a better chance of getting hired there after graduation - being that you were taught by St Joes nurses.

Oh that makes sense! I was told that we might be placed at st. Joes from time to time too. Guess that's one of the hospitals our site goes to too. I live in the East valley so I'm hoping for something closer to home (if avaliable). They said they will try to accommodate people if they can. Obvously, I'm willing to travel if I have to. :D
