Gastric bypass question

Hi everyone I have a question about the gastric bypass since most of you have probably seen a pt that has done this before. My question is what do you think about the surgery. do you think it should be done? Please share any stories or thoughts that you might have weather good or bad. I have a friend that is considering the surgery but is scared out of her mind. She is about 100 or mor pounds overweight.

My MIL had this surgery done in July of this year. She is down 85 pounds now. But in October, she had major complications from the surgery where she almost died. Her intestines became twisted and nothing could come up and nothing could go down. She was rushed into emergency surgery and was in the hospital for over a week and came home with a G-Tube in her stomach. She is doing much better now. She actually looks great since she has lost the weight but I have noticed her hair is getting thinner every time that I see her.
