Specializes in ICU/Critical Care.

Does anyone work there? I'm considering applying to an agency for per diem ICU via agency at Garden City hospital.

Specializes in Neuro ICU and Med Surg.

I haven't heard any good about their ICU and my family has had bad experiences with that particular hospital. But this is just what I know. It will be VERY VERY different from HFH.

Yeah, I haven't heard too much about GCH. I want to to agency to see if I like it. I just don't want to go to Oakwood because I"ve heard bad things about it. And I can't do agency at another HFH facility.

Specializes in Emergency Room.

I know from clinical talk that they don't have a computer system. They're still on paper. I know a CNA that works there and he loves it.

To be kind, I'll just say that I've had family there and we will choose a different hospital next time. But that was on the children's floor. My neighbors have heart drs there and they love it.

Specializes in Cardiac Tele, MICU RN.

I was considering GCH, due to the fact that its not far from me. But I was told that they specialize in OB, Labor and Delivery. My friend has had all three of her kids there and she loves it. However, I don't know anyone who works there and I don't think you should have a problem considering you working at HFH SICU, a much more acute ICU and bigger.

The one day I spent in their ICU for my nursing clinicals, I really enjoyed. My fellow students that went to the unit for a 1 day experience enjoyed it as well. The staff were friendly and were open to teaching. I don't know what they have for per-diem, but do know that the "telemetry unit" on the same floor, where we had the majority of our clinical time, has a very high Pt./RN ratio. However, one of the nursing instructors from our school, who is highly regarded by the majority that have taken her, works that unit and apparently doesn't mind the high ratios. I did love my time in the OR and invasive cardiology and thought the staff there were awesome too (MD's included when stating "staff").
