Well I have decided to go and check out the campus. Don't know what will become of it. I am also taking my PAX RN test today. If it's meant to be, it will be.

Is there anyone currently taking the RN bridge class there? How do you like it?

I have most my prereqs already done. I am missing A & P II and micro. The rest are finished.

Well wish me luck. I will let you know how it goes when I get back this afternoon!

Well I passed the test. None of the studying I did helped at all. That test was hard!!! I walked out of there feeling the way I did when I walked out of taking my LPN boards!! So far, they still have seats for November....wish me luck...if anyone else is going to Galen...please contact me

I took the tour about a month ago. How do you feel about the actual campus. It wasn't what I expected.

The tour was good. But they have a new building opening up this fall and it looks fabulous from the pictures I have seen. They will have a new simulation thingy--which sounds really cool. So from my first impression, I really like the school. and the staff too.

I haven't been there, but I do have it on my list of schools to check out. They state that they will transfer 20 credits from the school you received your PN to their school to bridge to their RN. Hope more repsond I'd like to know a little more about this school as well.

hi, i am a student at galen in the rn program. i actually just graduated from their lpn program in august and then started the rn program.

galen is a really good school and all the instructors are great. everyone in our lpn class passed their boards (so far). i think the school has like a 95% pass rate. their curriculum is modeled around the nclex and all nursing exams are given in nclex test question format. overall i felt really prepared for the boards.

galen is an accelerated program that goes by 12 week quarters. they cram alot of information into those 12 weeks. if your not a dedicated student and don't think you can keep up with an accelerated programs, galen is not for you.

the only 2 downfalls of galen are:

1.) the cost of the program (but if you transfer credits you will save a lot of money).

2.) they aren't nationally accredited meaning the credits won't transfer, (except to a few private schools like university of phoenix, south university and i think excelsior)

let me know if you guys have any questions.

 well i just had my rn interview at galen this morning. my advisor said she meets before the committee this friday to see who is accepted or not. i am hopeful i said the right things in my interview. i was honest and up front.....so i am keeping my fingers crossed!

after doing all the research on my different options, i chose galen for the fact that their reputation around the tampa bay area is awesome.

i will keep you all posted!! :D

Hi, I read some of your post and I wonder if you were attending PHCC what make you attend Galen which is so very, very much expensive and credits are not so easily transferable to another institution unless is to another private school? When you have to work full-time and attend school you need to have some sort of flexibility in the schedule. It seems that Galen is very stressful due to the length of time the classess are conducted. Well wish you the best and hope you be able to be one of the ones accepted. Give it some more thought specially if you need to work. By the way I will be attending PHCC soon and I will like to get in touch with you since we live close by (Spring Hill area). Talk to you soon.

I'm applying for the evening lpn course that starts in feb.. this thread has been helpful. I'm a bit apprehensive about attending a school whose credits arent easily transferred. does anyone know what the hire rate is for graduates? or any personal experience info about the tampa area campus? I'd appreciate any thoughts or info you're willing to share.. :)

There's a lack of jobs for new LPNs and new RNs currently in Tampa Bay regardless of where you went to school.

The NCLEX pass rate for LPNs at Galen is close to 100%. But we lost almost half the class at the end of fundamentals. So be prepared to put lots of time into studying.

I really liked Galen for LPN, I learned a lot. Galen's instructors are excellent. But I'm doing my RN at SPC since I already have most of the pre-reqs and wish to remain in public college for BSN.

Galen's LPN - RN bridge is great for those who don't have pre-reqs and want to hurry up and get their RN.

I'd say 75% of my LPN class went on to the RN program at Galen. They say its tough because its accelerated. You get all the pre-reqs and nursing classes done in 15 months.
