I am currently thinking of applying to Galen in St Pete's LPN-RN program. I was curious if anyone out there attended or is attending right now. I know it is expensive, but I already have almost all of my gen ed's so the cost is nearly cut in half. I am also looking at SPC, but I probably couldn't start there until Jan 2011 and would not be finished until May 2012. If I started Galen in August, I would be done Nov 2011. That's 6 extra months where I could potentially be working as an RN. Plus, since I have the pre reqs completed, I would only have to attend classes on the days when the actual nursing courses and clinical days are, which is another good thing. Also, I am planning on going for my MSN after RN school. I wan't to bypass BSN if I can (already have a BA) I know UT in Tampa has such a program and so does USF, but I think UT is the only school that would accept Galen's credits. Am I correct?
Luckily I only took two classes so it was pretty smooth. I would advise studying hard on A&P! Get your books early and start reading. I didn't take it but many failed out of my quarter because they couldn't pass A&P! It is apprently very tough : / Computer class can be long and dull but try to do some of the assignments in class (so don't be silly and sit up front like I did to make it so obvious. The teacher is very nice though. Good Luck and I am sure you'll do great, keep your eye on the prize! Do you work currently? I work 24 hr a week but may need to cut down to strictly prn as school gets tougher.
Beware Galen students i also went to both of their programs LPN & RN and after not passing the RN NCLEX they wouldn' t even return my phone calls regarding helping me find ways to successfully pass the test, just remember schools are a business they're nice to you when you're paying them your tuition but when all is said and done they'll drop you like a hot potato....FYI
Hey Jess I cannot send personal msgs yet - I did have my orientation today!!!! I start on the 9th - doing A&P online...sosososo excited - any pointers would be greatly appreciated!!!)
I'm just wondering how you like Galen so far? Is it as tough as everyone says it is? A reply would surely be appreciated! :)

It was a hard test though - thought I knew my science - boy was I mistaken. Everyone was right - lots of Physics.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
