Hi all,
I am set to graduate in 56 days from my BSN program. I already have a job I've accepted and am working as an extern in my unit.
My issue is this: I was arrested 15 years ago when I was 18 and dumb for possession of marijuana. It was expunged from my records as I pled Youthful Offender in AL. I'm living in GA now and have never once had an issue with my previous arrest or conviction as it was expunged and the record no longer exists.
I know that when I apply for licensure, I MUST select YES that I have been arrested. Do I need to worry about not being able to obtain records for my expungement? The records were literally destroyed. I have not been in trouble since that one offense and do not have any drug or alcohol problems. Should I include a statement with my application?
I'm very worried that all of the hard work I've done over the past 3 years will be for nothing over something stupid from when I was a teenager.
TIA

My advice is to be honest. From what I've been told, if they find out about the incident and you haven't been honest, that is worse than the actual incident.
I would go to the director of your nursing program for guidance with how to proceed.
