FYI: army nurse residency program

Published

Just wanted to let anyone know that was curious about the 1 year residency program because someone on here originally told me they heard it was not going to be continued. I spoke to Major Murray today who is active in the army nurse corps, as well as a nursing recruiter and she informed me that the one year program is not going to be going away... the only change is that it is for students who do not already have a degree in nursing. She said it would not be beneficial to do away with it for brand new nurses coming on... just thought i would let you know!

So, who will use it then? College students? I thought a residency program is for New GRADS with RN licenses.

I talked to the branch manager/career manager at ANC yesterday and she informed me that it is no longer called a "residency" program due to legal reasons. It is now called the ANC med-surg program and is for all new nurses that are direct accession into the ANC. (is not for nurses with previous experience)

This is also what I have heard.
