Hello everyone. I am hopeful to go to COT early next year and am to be stationed at Lackland AFB. My wife works for the VA and we were wondering what the chances of her finding a VA or GS level job while stationed at Lackland or int he surrounding areas. Any advice is helpful!!!

We have a ton of both job openings in our area.

My wife and I are both nurses. We both joined the Air Force due to spouses we knew having problems finding jobs once the military spouse PCS'd. In San Antonio it is extremely easy for any type of nurse, LVN to BSN, to find a job. Elsewhere I know it takes an average 6months to find a job, sometimes only finding per diem jobs.

Where in America was that? I've only lived in a handful of states, but there seemed to be a nursing shortage in every town I lived in. Many places offered huge bonuses for contracts.

It's a different market out there now. New grads are suffering and are often unemployed for months after graduation/boards, and experienced nurses aren't having an easy time, either.
