Hey y'all! I am 18 years old and finishing up my last semester of high school (woot woot!). I plan to study nursing in college and I am curious if there's anything I should know (any make or break moments or something you wish you had known going into the program) before I decide for sure that nursing is what I want to do. I procrastinate, but I am a good student and I love to learn.[/quote']As long as you are sure it's what you want to do; don't let anyone dissuade you in your wonderful endeavor. Good luck!
Congrats! I just started the second semester of my freshman year. I'm still taking pre-reqs. I would say really study hard for the classes required for the nursing major, such as A&P, micro, etc., as well as your other classes. Study a little bit each day and you'll have success! :)
Best of luck in the rest of your senior year!
See if you can find someone to shadow. Follow a nurse around for a couple of nights and you can get a good idea of what nurses do. You can also shadow a respiratory therapist, a physician's assistant, a physical therapist, etc. Maybe you can follow someone in the ICU, the emergancy room, or surgery. I shadowed when I was a senior and that sealed the deal for me.
