  1. I'm not a nurse yet but based on what I've been told I would say one would have to have pretty tough skin. My mom's been a nurse since I was born and she's the toughest person I know.
  2. What's the rush? It sounds like that environment of accelerated classes may not be for you, sounds like you're struggling. Everyone, their mama and grandmother are wanting to be nurses now a days, you're going to have to get that GPA up because it's super competitive. I believe if you really want to do this and have you're heart set on becoming a nurse you can do it. Are you working full time?
  3. Try and volunteer at a hospital so you can see up front what nurses do and then decide of this is what you really want to do. My sister wanted to become a nurse until she volunteered at a hospital and found out nursing was not for her. Either way, good luck to you!
  4. Patho. Health Assessment. 2 filler classes.
  5. Nothing in my post indicated that I was implying that you don't like people. There is no need to get defensive, it was a legitimate question.
  6. Lol yeah it was a friend not a cousin. And I totally agree that any profession will have people who love their coworkers and people who hate their coworkers. I just thought it was interesting how two people with the same careers have different experiences. The people you work with can really affect how you feel about your career.
  7. One of my friends, a relatively recent grad, has been working at a hospital for about a year now and hates her co-workers. She complains about how "catty" her co-workers are. One the flip side: One of my aunts has been a nurse for about 20 years now and loves her co-workers at the hospital she works at but always complains about how the supervisors are breathing down her neck and she feels like she has to walk on eggshells.
  8. Just came in her to say congrats! lol
  9. I have no problem maintaining my weight while in nursing school. I find exercise helps me release all by pent up tensions.
  10. Do you even like people?
  11. I'm soooooo late but I got into MSU's nursing program too! Yayyy us! I have so much stuff to get done. Ahhhh!
  12. Most of the people I've talked too want it for the job security which is depressing to me. If I were a patient I'd want a nurse who actually cared and whose #1 reason for becoming a nurse was to help others. I've always wanted to be a nurse and help someone and feel like I'm making a positive impact on someone else's life, my mom is also a nurse and I think that influenced me as well.
