Further Education after LVN/not RN

Nurses General Nursing

I became an LVN in 2006.  I want to further my education but I know I don't want to become an RN.  I'm over bedside care and would like to do something more behind the scenes, on the phone or more desk or computer type work.  Any ideas?  Thank you

Do you want to further your education or do you want a new job / type of work?

If it's a different kind of job, what is your aim? Do you want to not deal directly with patients? Work with people less? Be clear and honest with yourself about what you want and don't want. Be as specific as possible. If it's all about what you don't want, you probably had a really bad experience and need to narrow down what the worst of it was. Which is hard, because it's usually a straw that broke the camels back kind of situation. And you can wind up having a trauma response to straw after that even though it wasn't one piece of straw that broke you.

My sense is that this is not really about education for you, but if it is, and you don't want to become an RN, think more about what you want to learn or gain from the education.

A friend of mine was an LVN first, and since becoming an RN she has worked in public health, which is currently an office job.
