I just finished my fundamentals course and passed it just fine. It did require a lot of study time. The tricky part is the questions on the tests. There could be two right answers, and you have to choose the best answer. You may want to get a book called Test Success (a book for beginning nursing students) to help you prepare for taking the tests. As for the class, make sure you do the assigned readings, listen and take notes during lecture, answer the questions after each chapter you read in the book, and go to your instructors if you have any questions or concerns (don't worry about bugging them, they're there to help). Organize your time wisely and make sure that you are applying what you learn to your clinical practice. The fundamentals course will take a LOT of your time, so you will have to be organized, especially since you are taking two other classes. I hope you are not working, and be prepared to not have much of a social life with your course load. Good luck!

I think the best way to memorize everything is with acronyms.
When learning electrolyte values, i once memorized MPCS and then 1.6-2.6, 3.5-5.1, 8.6-10, and 135-145. MPCS=magnesium, potassium, calcium, and sodium. I found it faster and easier to memorize the words together and then the numbers together, and then match them in my mind. This way, by memorizing two things, you have memorized four. Good luck.:)
