Hi all,
im creating this blog in hopes to find others who are planning on applying for the spring 2019 nursing program at fsw. I know it's a while from now, but I'll like to get to know a few people and maybe we can help eachother through the process.
Hi Josh, I saw that you mentioned that FSW decided not to accept any students for the ANEW program for spring. Do you know why? That's really going to make fall semester really competitiveAlso, I was looking into Keiser too, but when I called to get more information about their program I was told I had to take the TEAS before I applied. They told me they don't have a set teas score, but they prefer 75 or higher. Do they have a ASN and BSN program ?
Hey FSWNurse,
Yes Keiser has both a BSN and an ASN Program. I believe the TEAS is required for the Associates but they use the Wonderlic for the Bachelors.
And yeah, it's crazy that FSW is not accepting anymore ANEW students right now. Not sure why and it came with no warning. Gonna make things much more competitive, I think. Not as competitive as SCF, but still.
Did you apply for this Spring at FSW? I can tell you that the ASN at Keiser is only 16 months long. It's straight through with no breaks, so you'd finish much more quickly than at FSW. Pricier, but you'll start working months sooner.
No, i didn't apply for spring at fsw and I'm glad I didn't because I was looking into the ANEW program.
I was researching about Keiser and it seems like the fort Myers campus only offers the BSN program and I also heard they have a wait list for the ASN programs. I'm going to call tomorrow and see what they tell me. I know the Sarasota campus offers the ASN and I don't mind traveling if I have to.

Did you call and get any more info? I was not aware there was a wait list for the ASN program at Keiser.
FSW might bring back the ANEW program next fall. They may not have gotten enough applications for this spring. Or students may just not be performing as well as they had hoped. Maybe send an email to the nursing department and see what's up with the ANEW program and if it is ever coming back.
Hi! Hoping someone can help :) Im just now trying to do my prerequisites for nursing at fsw. Im hoping you guys can help answer some questions since you have all completed this step. I saw online that fsw goes by a point system for their nursing school. Quick backstory: i have a bachelors in psychology and my gpa was not great it was a 2.5. Is their gpa for nursing school based on just the prerequisites? That will give me some hope I can get in if its like that. Thanks guys hope you can be of some help! :)
Yes, they only count the gpa for the prereqs needed for the nursing program plus your TEAS score combined

Yes. As far as GPA is concerned, it's based just on the prerequisite classes that are required for the nursing program. As you probably already know, the point system is also based on the TEAS test score aswell. A lot of points can be earned by getting a good score on the teas which can make up for a lower gpa.
Ya try and prepare as best as you can for the teas. I was accepted into the program with only 4 of the 9 classes completed but I did really well on the teas which made all the difference for me.
Also, They are pretty specific on which humanities they will accept so just make sure to clear your humanities class with the nursing advisor before taking it, if you haven't already.
