Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.
Who is joining me next fall in nursing?
I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.
I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.
Hello everyone.
There are plenty of jobs in the area, just don't expect one right out of school in some cases. I recommend volunteering at the hospital or place you may be interested in. It will definitely make your chances of a job easier. In addition, you are required 16 hours of volunteering anyways, so why not knock that out of the way. The first semester will be easiest. For those of you with no knowledge in the medical field it will be more difficult. The high scores, over 90, typically have no worries to get into the program. The night program will most likely only accept the highest of scores, as it's accelerated. I will write more later, have to put son to bed. In short, I have been in the night program, went through three semesters, and know plenty of people in the program who are done. Here to help as best as I can. Thanks!
I always thought surgery was pretty cool, I was debating maybe being a scrub nurse. I even went so far as to think maybe I should go to med school, but I figured that I'm to old for that and wouldn't be able to have a life due to having to be near my phone 24/7. Pathogens and disease is so interesting to me though, I catch myself googling a lot of different conditions that I hear about.

ME TOO!! Love learning about anything related to pathogens! That's why my back up plan is a bachelor's in bio. It would be with a microbiology focus.

That's awesome!! I'm so eager to learn new things about it. You should Download the BBC news app and look at the health section, they are always coming up with new studies on things that are really exciting. You might like it.
I am right there with you guys. I LOVED Microbiology! I felt like such a nerd, but that class just blew my mind every day! I also considered for a bit if I shouldn't major in Micro. I would absolutely love to do research. I think it is so interesting to me because there is still so much to be discovered...still so much that we don't understand. That being said, I can't imagine enjoying micro that much and not enjoying nursing in the same way.
