FSU Accelerated BSN 2018

Published

I haven't seen a thread started for FSU ABSN in literally years (2014 was the last ABSN I've seen from FSU) and since we are in the middle of the application period, I thought I would begin it now.

I am currently taking Pathophysiology online at Butler Community College in Kansas because it was on the list of schools the FSU Nursing advisor said was preapproved to take.

Has everyone submitted their transcripts via snail mail?

I'm so happy there is finally an updated forum for 2018! I'm counting down the days for the interview and was excited when they sent out the decisions almost a month early. Good luck to everyone!

Hey! So we all got our interviews pushed back now to October thanks to Irma. Has anyone heard/does anyone know exactly how the group interviews will go? Or does anyone know if they lead to another solo interview? Just wondering since we've all been waiting TEN WEEKS now to interview for them hahaha. And do you think we'll just be there for the interview and then leave, or is there some kind of general welcome/information session before/after? Thanks! :)

As far as I know it's just the group interview and we leave right after, with a decision being made within 2 weeks after the interview. I'm curious about the group interview as well because I feel like FSU has given the least amount of information regarding the interview compared to other schools. I'm wondering how many students there are per group, how long each group session lasts, how many questions, etc.

I'm interested in applying to FSU next year and would love to know some of the credentials other applicants have. I read other threads in previous years that successful applicants have at least 3.7 gpa in general education and 4.0 in science prerequisites.

My interview if Friday, October 6 at 10:00 am. When they mean group interview, do they really mean, multiple individual interviews happening simultaneously? That's how it was at USF. They called it a group interview but you were interviewed individually, but several people at the same time in different rooms.

I believe they actually mean group interview as in multiple people being interviewed in the same room, not how USF does it simultaneously

Hey guys! I'm torn between this program versus a longer accelerated program. Does anyone know someone who was previously in the program and what a typical day/week looks like?

Hey guys...I know we all heard on Friday about admission. I haven't lived in Tallahassee since 2011, so I was wondering, where's the best place to live for the next year? I'm thinking an apartment complex with mostly graduate type students. Do y'all have any recommendations?

Apartments have changed a lot over the years (even since I've been in tally starting in 2013). If you're looking for graduate type students I would probably stay clear of the Collegetown area, which is on madison st on the south side of campus. I'm going to live there again just because I have in the past, I like to be able to walk to campus and it's a really nice area where I feel safe. But it can get loud at night/on the weekends. It all depends on your budget though because walking distance to campus can get really expensive around $700+ is the lowest

Hey again! What are y'all doing for Health Insurance? Are you purchasing Student Health Insurance through FSU or getting your own?

Hi! Since this is the only thread for FSU accelerated that is up to date, I wanted to know if any of you who were apart of the interview process could tell me how it went. I will be submitting my application very soon since it opens up tomorrow. I know there is an interview date if you get it so I am curious.

I'm not sure if you are asking about traditional or the accelerated nursing. As for accelerated nursing, I remember our interview was scheduled for like September 9 but because we had a hurricane it was pushed back till October 9 or something. It was a group interview. You are brought into a conference room at a round table and there were three nursing faculty (professors who actually teach) who were there taking notes of everything you say/Your answers to their questions. There were four girls including myself in our interview but one person didn't show up so there were supposed to be five. They ask you a question and one by one you answer. They say they want it to be like a discussion. But they would ask a question and then each one of us would answer. And we could even add more to our answer later before they moved onto the next question if you wanted to. I think they asked about five questions. Then they stop taking notes and asked a final question that was not apart of their initial questions but I guess a question they still wanted us to answer. Because they had pushed back our interviews, we found out that following Friday if we got into the program or not. They didn't waste any time telling us. Hope that helps
