FSCJ Summer 2016

Published

Hello everyone. I haven't seen a post for the Summer term 2016 so I figured I would post. I applied to the Spring semester but didn't get in. I am retaking the HESI at the end of Nov and resubmitting my app for Summer term and if that fails too then Fall 2016. It's frustrating but I am working towards it! I will have my AA degree in December. Who else is applying for Summer or Fall term?

Hey Casey!

So it looks like I wont be getting the call to get off of the waiting list for the Spring term so I will be reapplying for Summer. I am hoping to retake the HESI by the end of November as well to get a better score. My points for this past application was 187.5 so I am hoping to increase my score on the HESI so that I wont be on the bubble again. I am hoping to get in for nights and weekends as I work full time and will continue to do so. Just by looking at the Nursing info for Fall 2016 it is only for days so that wont work for me. Hopefully this will be the semester that we get in!

Good Luck!

You were so close! I just recently ran into a dilemma. I really want to apply for Summer but I would have to make a really good grade on the HESI to improve my score (because I got C's in 3 of my pre reqs). But since they accept less people in Summer, I may have a better chance. But I also want to re take my anatomy classes but I can't do that at FSCJ so I'd have to go somewhere else and re take them in the spring. So that puts me at applying for Fall 2016 (I don't mind days). I am also applying for Fall at UNF even though their program is very competitive. I just want to see if I have a chance anywhere. So I will probably apply for both, and just hope for the best. I just don't want to re take the classes for nothing! Even though I'm going to need the brush up anyway!!

I'm going to the info session on the 20th at 10 am... You should go if you're schedule permits! They have another session at 4 pm.

Unfortunately I dont have any vacation time left to take any more time off work to go to the info session.

It is hard to tell if it will be easier to get into summer because of the number of seats available. With there only being 96 seats instead of the 144 I would think your scores would have to be higher in order to get in. Although, this past summer, the cutoff was only a little less than it was for this semester. I would still apply for the summer because you never know what they could be. UNF is very competitive so I would say to redo those classes that you got a C in so it will inprove your chances if indeed you do want to try UNF.

Yeah I was thinking that too! Anatomy is not fun but the information is super important and I'll definitely need the higher grades to improve my score. Thanks for the advice!

I went ahead and set up my appointment for 11/25 to retake the HESI. So that leaves me a month to study up.

If I re take it, I will do it on 11/24. Good luck to you again!

I'm retaking my Hesi in November as well, I'm taking mine on the 30th. It is cutting it really close to the deadline but with a full load of Fall classes trying to squeeze in time to study is kind of hard so I'm just trying to give myself enough study time. My score for reading and math were really high so I am just going to really focus on the sciences this time.

Sounds like a good plan Jess. I am just doing mine a few days before just so that I can spend my lunch break on the 30th to be able to go turn in my application. I think the only sections that I need to really study on is Biology and Anotomy. I scored an 85% on my math so I can brush up on that as well. I have 3 classes that I am doing this semester but I will find a way to find time to study.

I got an 85 in math as well along with a 90 in reading, it was my science that really hurt me. However my boyfriend is in a biology class this semester so I am going to use his book to look over a lot of the things that are hit on the test. He also has videos too that I think will be helpful. If I can get my Hesi score up then I know I will be able to get in, but I am the worst at testing. My nerves get to me every time ):

Jess, are you going to the information session on the 20th?
