FSCJ Summer 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Is there anyone planning to apply for FSCJ's Summer 2011 RN program? I am taking A&PI and II next semester with Human Growth and Dev. and Sociology, then I'll apply. I am taking Microbiology during the spring prior to going into the program. I am taking the Nat in September after Chem 1032. What about you?

Same here I have 196, if I don't make it in Ill turn around and apply for Fall!

Has anyone received a denial letter yet

Nothin for me either

Nothing here! hates the waiting game!! Keeping my fingers crossed being against all those 200 somethings score!:uhoh3:

Hi all!

I applied to the RN program with 194 points, I had calculated my points wrong somehow and thought my points were higher. Anyway, I also applied to the LPN program, why? Im not sure yet :) But I got an acceptance packet in the mail for the LPN program!!!!!!!! I am so excited but I don't know why. I have been going to FSCJ for the past 2 years to get my AA degree and to apply to the RN program. I have to reply back to them by the 17th of this month if I am going to accept the seat but RN has been and still is my 1st choice, LPN was a back up plan. What kind of places do LPN's work? I dont think the hospitals even hire them anymore, what kind of salary do they make? Im just curious to know. They had over 300 applicants, I guess thats why I am soooo excited about it! Im not sure what to do, since I cant go to my plan B (LPN) until my plan A (RN) falls through which I am hoping and praying that I get accepted.

What do you all think?

Congrats on your acceptance!! I know that program has limited acceptance too! LPN's can work in pretty much all of the same places that RNs work, they just work under RNs. From what I understand- nowadays most LPNs are hired in long-term care facilities more than anywhere else. I also thought about applying to their program as a back-up if I don't get into the RN program this go 'round and then try for the bridge program. LPN hourly pay I think is between 17 & 25 an hour? I could be wrong on that number though. But if you look on Craigslist- there are always so many job opportunities for LPNs under the medical job postings- actually I've seen more LPN job openings than any other healthcare job on there- so they must be still in need! Congrats on getting in! What were your grades like? (If you don't mind me asking) I'm just curious because I'm still considering that if I don't make it into the RN program.

Thanks ATRN2B!

For the LPN program you submitted TABE scores and transcripts for the GPA part. I scored the highest possible on all the areas of the TABE and my GPA is 3.6. For some reason I didnt expect to get into the LPN or RN program but I am happy that I have this LPN to fall back on.

How does the bridge program work? You have to pass and be certified as an LPN before you can apply to thre LPN-RN bridge program right? Or can you bridge over while you are in the LPN program?

Im going to go ahead and accept the LPN acceptance, hopefully I will hear back soon from the RN program. The thing is, is that I may have a better chance of getting into the RN program with my 194 points next semester (fall) instead of this semester (summer). I dont want to count myself out altogether for the RN program just yet. Within the LPN packet it has a reactivation form that I can fill out of I wanted to be considered for another semester instead of summer.

I just feel like LPN would be going backwards since I actually hope to get my BSN one of the days. Im all over the place I know. Sorry :)

I am in RN program at FSCJ and wonder if anyone needs some Nurse Mates shoes in size 10? They are the slip on type, almost new. They are great shoes but I really need an 11 but I thought the 10 would work but it didn't and my big toe is pushing on the top :-(. Cheap, cheap!!!

I have a feeling it's not going to be today. If they sent the letters out yestarday hypothetically ,then they wouldn't get here till tomorrow or Thursday.
