Frustrated with this orientation process/hospital!!!! (just need to vent)

I really need to VENT :madface:! This hospital or at least the recruiter has been so rude and is so disorganized!!!!! So orientation was supposed to be this week...first day was yesterday. They ended up switching the location yesterday (supposedly too many ppl) for general orientation. So the recruiter sent me papers with dates on 3 separate pieces of paper. It said orientation was mon-wed 8-4 at this one place. Then 8 to 10 Thursday at the hospital, then next Tuesday 8-10 (but Im also working 7-3). This past Friday she calls everyone up and tries to tell me that orientation is 8-4 mon-wed. 8-4, Thursday at the hospital (which the sheet said 8-10), and Friday 8-4 (which it didnt say a thing about Friday!) Of course I asked since what the sheet said was different so she made me look like I was dumb and disorganized...and tried to tell me that the sheet did say to come Friday..and it DID NOT..also made a comment to me that I though was inappropriate! Then yesterday I go to general orientation and is was blah. I was sitting next to another na but from a different hospital in the same system. I guess she was told not to go today or tomorow by her recruiter. I thought maybe it was just her hospital. There was a orientation schedule sheet on the table and I looked at it. It said nothing today or tomorrow...but Thursday 8-10 and nothing Friday. I asked the women who was in charge yesterday and asked her if she could tell me what the schedule was because I was told a few different things. She told me just what I said and something about the 7 and 8th. I call up the recruiter from HR after I got out yesterday and she did answer. She always gives me this sarcastic rude attitude :devil:! I just told her I am hearing something different from what you told me (mind you..she told me 2 different things to begin with). and that I wanted to clarify what the schedule is for the rest of the week/orientation. She was like I dont know thats your responsibility to find out. I think she thought I meant at first that I meant I didnt know what place to go to today...but I told her the other women told me not to go anywhere at all! She was like I dont know what to tell you..and pulled "Im just the recruiter" card...but shes the one who sent the paperwork out with the dates and called everyone up. I think she may be the head person in HR. She pulled that before when I had a question about benefits. She said Im not the benefit guru...but it said to return to HR. She said yesterday I guess just show up their tomorrow..AND WAS LIKE THEN WHY ARE YOU THE ONLY ONE WHO CALLED ME THEN TODAY..well maybe because we just got out and because I pay attention and wanted to clarify this! Also she called up my home phone after I got off my cell phone with her yesterday..b4 I got home. She left a message trying to be all nice..cough..and was like I would show up to tomorrow. I wake up super early today (havent slept in forever..sleeping problems)...I go there and the nursing assistants were not supposed to be there! I asked just a worker who worked in this building that was at her desk if she was told anything. She said a few other nursing assistants were talking with a recruiter...but they left as I was walking in (not sure about the recruiter). So there was noone to ask..but she said something about the 6 and 7th...the other women yesterday said something about the 7 and 8th..and the recruiter didnt say anything about this. So I was really ******...and have no idea when and where I supposed to be for orientation anymore! This is getting completely ridiculous! I left a voicemail for the recruiter..said I didnt mean to bug her (well actually I dont care bc shes something else). She actually just called and said Im going over there at noon today to find out ..and to call her tomorrow. She said go to the hospital Thursday at 8 and doesnt know how long it will be...and doesnt know anything else about any other days this week. GREAT! Instead of today/tomorrow we go the 6 and 7th for na orientation?! She was like Im sorry for the confusion. Well besides this she told me 2 different things b4. Ugh not a great start..people need to do their jobs and notify people. Its pretty pointless to do na orientation then because Im supposed to be starting on the floor the 30th (Monday). Now I dont know if this is going to mess up my work schedule..when I talked to the nurse manager for the first time Friday she only had until the 3rd figured out. I might have to call her up tomorrow if I ever know what is going on...and dont know how to explain to her if she already made the rest of schedule that some people are idiots lmao.

You should try speaking to someone else. Obviously that lady isnt going to be of any use.

Wow, that lady is very unprofessional and obviously doesnt know her information.. I would be highly p'd-o as well.

Hopefully once you start that it would be as dysfunctional as the orientation. Just remember incase that lady tries saying you didnt show up to one of the orientation days keep all paper work so you can show how messed up it was from the getgo :D

During my orientation at two different hospitals what normally happens is that they schedule all the new hospital employees whatever position or department they are in and the first day or two/three is all the general stuff. Then as orientation progresses they might have just the NA's and RN's left then at the end its normally just the RN's.

In both hospitals I work at there were people who were already working their schedule for sometimes weeks and were just now able to complete orientation.

Orientation is a bunch of video's, paper signing, guest speakers for all departments and other stuff. If you miss a day either by accident or fault of the recruiter they WILL fit you in for that orientation material at another time.

Honestly, I would go to my nurse manager and just tell him/her that there may be some confusion with your orientation schedule and assure him/her you will be there to work your shift on the floor. What you don't want to end up doing is missing your scheduled time on the floor and ******* off your new co-workers

wow sorry to hear about all that nonsense

I too like to be on time and sure about where the heck I need to go

On a different note I went to an orientation at a nursing home (nice, high end, super clean) and it went super flawlessly. Tons of paperwork, just 3 of us and the nursing educator (title?)

Anyhow we even had a nice lunch from the kitchen and it was informative yet laid back. I feel it was a good example of how things are run there, efficiently and no fuss.

Now we went to payroll and that was not as cool and organized !

They have a really cool time clock that you put your hand down and it clocks you in like a star treck thing.

Better luck with the orientation. I am gettin $10.25 an hour which is ok since minimum here is like $7. Out of curiosity since we are anonymous how much are they starting you at the hospital? I am in TN.

Thanks everyone. Well Monday was general orientation. I mean so much info and a long day, you really couldnt remember everything. Thursday is computer training. Everything else really dont know now. In NA orientation do they show you how to do stuff or do they just talk? I was wondering becasue I take this now (switched) after I start working. I sure hope sometime before Monday..someone will show me where to go...but like I said the orientation schedule this week is not really clear. They are starting me at $11.65hr. days.

Guess what...yet again another change in the story?! Really starting to annoy me. I guess now I dont go in tomorrow its Friday now. The nurse manager called (was the 2nd time ever talking to her). She said she wanted me to know that, and to let me know its not her fault (I never thought it was), and doesnt understand whats going on either and why things got so messed up. She has to let me know tomorrow if Im allowed to start Monday now since I wont get all my orientations done by then :(
