Hi just wondering if anyone knows of tutoring services in the new orleans area. I'm in my last level of nursing school and never thought I'd find myself in the situation I'm in now I study everyday hours on end and my first 2exams didn't reflect my efforts. I have 3more exams to go before fulfilling a lifelong dream and I'm trying so hard to be optimistic and do all that I can. I read, use Saunders NCLEX, listen to lectures online, and meet with study groups I'm literally out of ideas. Also is there anyone on here that is a Charity Nursing School student or graduated from Charity that might be able to help. Thanks in advance for any suggestions..God Bless

I heard that NAC 2 was having a very hard time. I know that some people feel that the Hursts review was very helpful in making the NAC 2 information click. But, my question would be....do you not understand the material, or.... is it the tests that are tripping you? It makes a difference because all of the studying in the world won't prepare you for the test questions. In that case you would have to (in my opinion) get really close to one of the instructors and let them guide you into what to look for when you are answering questions. They are the best source for you to know how to answer the questions. You have to know how to get what you need to get out of ALL the resources. Yes, the instructors are a resource. I don't know why they are making this so hard!
Yes I'm a charity nursing student, and I took the Hurst review this summer at the school. I've tried talking to my clinical instructor during my team rotation, but she wasn't very helpful at all. I have no clue what's going on around there after last semesters fiasco its like they're taking it out on our class. When I approached my instructor it was a bunch of I don't knows and I'm not sure what to tell you. Are there any tutors in the area that anyone knows of. Thanks in advance..God Bless
Oh yeah, Jemommy by the way I am a NACII student, and that's part of the frustration at the career day friday my old Basics teacher and one of the Mental Health instructors started talking to my friends and I saying how they heard what was going on with NACII, I've been at the library and have seen 3rd level student and they look at us and say how sorry they feel for NACII because they've heard what's going. OMG...I'm just I think in a state of shock this semester. I've never had problems like this in either of the previous semeters and I'm sure you know how tough it can be.
There were 6-7 SAC members who bombed (I think it was test 2- the one on vents)- with scores into the 50's... You know that something is not right when the honor society members- and some people who were straight A's (there were 1-2 of them-I dont know how they do it?) start bombing (not failing- but bombing) tests like that...-What have been the test averages for the class?
Rumor has it that it stems from a fiasco last semester for NAC 2. I don't know if this is true or what? But it's sad that others have got to suffer from someone else's deed....
One of my friends tells me that the class average is a 76 (now this was 2 weeks ago). I have not spoken to him since...
Rumor also was being passed that the NAC 2 students were going to hold some sort of protest... I don't know if it happened or if it is still something that is being considered- like I said, I just heard the rumor.
I have never heard of the NAC 2 students having this much trouble during my time at Charity........if the other level teachers are discussing it (and I even heard them discuss it) -then you know its a problem...Has someone gone to the dean? It sounds like you have done what you needed to do by taking the HURST...and since you never had any problems before...
It sounds like the entire class is on the verge of failing...and maybe those tests need to be re-looked at by the staff....I have never heard of tutors for NAC2-
I would go see the lady in charge of SAC- (she is very , very nice) located on the 3rd floor- )- she will tell who if she knows about any tutors... Also across from the library (when you are facing the desk to check out-) look to your left, there is an office there(right outside the library doors) - this lady can help you as well... I forgot her name, but she too is very nice, I believe that she is a retention educator (?)- she has been helping the NAC 2 students...
I hope this helps...
Yeah all that's true the first 2exam averages for the entire class was a 76 overall, but that was after 8 points had been give for each exam do to questions being thrown out. Can you imagine what the class avg would have been w/o th extra 8 points on each exam. I have some friends that graduated last semester and its true about some exams going around and some girl had them but still failed so she went to the head of NACII and started naming people so part of the class last semester had to retake the final and others didn't so it was a big ole thing b/c some retakers didn't past the 2nd time around. So everyone in our class feels as though we're reaping the benifits of idiots, and its so unfair. Oh by the way I have gone to the retention lady and she was extremely nice, but was so busy with appts that day with other NACII students coming she didn't really have lots of time for me, but I've taken the advice she's given me and we'll see. I even went so far as to put a note under the door of the head of NACII and requested that she allows the retention lady teach a test taking lecture one day after one of the regularly scheduled lecture before our next exam but it hasn't happened yet so I doubt that it will. I also went to the head of NACI b/c when I was in that level there was a professional that came in and lectured on test taking skill one saturday morning at school and I remember it being packed in the gym for it and afterwards they posted her powerpoint presentation on blackboard but seems as though that didn't take off either. So I've gone to every avenue I can think of. I've heard in my study group yesterday that the reason class was empty thurs and fri is b/c lots of people are so fed up that they have dropped and are doing excelsior now. Not sure how true that is but I know for sure half the class just about was missing thursday and friday was the same way. I'm kinda thinking at this point they would love to have a graduating class of 20....
Wow that is something... doesn't sound like there is much you can do until people get so frustrated that they go to the dean with a bunch of the students and request some suggestions on what to do.
Charity was always known for their high success rate.. having only 20 people possibly pass is not a good thing... yeah, they got their money from the students already... but as a student in a lower level, I am not aspiring or looking forward to Nac 2..after hearing about all of this.. Where and or /what does the dean/provost have to say about this? What do they intend to do.. Let everyone fail and then give a final exam that is easy.... where is the middle ground here?... If the majority of the class is failing, they need to look at the tests, or the instructors- there is more than a common theme going on here..
What is even more disappointing is hearing it from all of the other non NAc 2 teachers..... that speaks volumes... and when I went in one day to see the retention lady- she assumed that I was a Nac 2 student- she said hello, and how bad did you bomb the test?- that was all telling as well......
I know that students don't want to cause an uproar- they just want things to be fair- but it is clear that this is a time bomb that is about to go off- if these issues are not addressed by someone-things are gonna get way out of hand- and they sound as though they already have...
I wish you luck.... just keep hanging in there.......
