Hi

For which specialty are you applying if you don't mind sharing.

Am still on shock I was accepted , even when I met all the requirements I knew I was going to be competing with other other people who also met the requirements...

I honestly think the essays and recommendations had a huge impact on their decision.... but who knows...

don't lose hope

Congratulations everyone! And if you're on the waitlist, don't lost hope!

I agree with the above comment that your essays and letters of rec are an opportunity to make yourself stand out from the rest. My BSN GPA was OK (3.5) and I had 2.5 years RN experience when I was applying.

I will be doing Frontier Bound in two weeks. If you have any questions about the process thus far, feel free to reach out!

Hey so we literally have almost the same info...but I actually have been a nurse for 3 yrs now and GPA 3.6. So it definatey must be letters of rec and the essays. Hopefully ill be hearing from then soon

I applied for the PMHNP and I got waitlisted. 3.5 GPA.

Still hope, they keep you for this one and just in case the next session as well..

Some people can do their application fast and do great... on my end, since I knew I lack work experience on the area (PMHNP) I took my time with the essays and gave plenty of time ahead to the people doing the recommendation as well. I made sure to remind them for the specific program I was applying, so they could focus their essay not only on recommending myself but ensuring I was a good fit for the specific program.

As well, I took almost 3 weeks to prepare the main essay... I Google articles, and Youtube videos on how to write an admissions essay... I read the school mission and the importance for the school to have diversity, equality, serve the undeserved population, etc... and then I used my pesonal/work experiences and linked to their mission and the question on the essay.

I let the essay stay on my pc for over a week after it was ready,so I could re read it a couple times and felt confident about it. I also had an academic advisor and a co worker read over my essay (no changes /correctiom made as per them it was fine).

It kind of give me chills whenever I read it. I left my 'heart' on it.

But hey, thats just what worked for me.

Hello everyone, I am thinking of applying to this schools FNP program. How are you liking the program so far?

Hey nurseJae19, so I am a year in so far and I really like it. I don’t think there is ever a perfect anything..so I am not gonna brag that it’s perfect BUT they are approachable, I like they way they’re teaching thus far in terms of being all inclusive (like you’ll learn how to take care of ALL patients), they are challenging so you do have to put the work in and I have learned so much! If theres any specific questions you have to just let know..I am in the FNP program

I am so happy to hear that! I just placed my application but I have applied to other schools as well. Have you had to go on campus yet, how was it? Also do you get any help or a list of places to find preceptors? From what I've gathered, you go on campus twice while enrolled in the program.

I havent gotten on campus yet due to covid but it looks like theyre back to campus orientations, one at the beginning and one before clinicals. I'll be going next Summer. And they do help you with sites with a website with resources and map of sites available. It all depends where you live I guess? Theres multiple sites close to where I live.

In general what is the single hardest thing about this program? Any advice to new students who get accepted?

I mean..grad school is hard in general..so you just have to be willing to be flexible, time management, LOTS of studying..I always do some self care catch up on our breaks because it CAN get overwhelming. I currently have been SO overwhelmed with the kiddos at home on top of everything else. IDK how people who homeschool do it tbh. And at first itd hard to get your feet grounded and get started so just a heads up on that.

Hello - I am currently in another PMHNP program and am not happy with it. I have heard people say great things about Frontier. Can anyone give me more info about what you like if you have started? I went to a direct entry program and have taken 15 MSN level units. I do not plan to work bedside RN since I am already a licensed mental health professional and have been working for years. Frontier says that 1 year experience may be substituted if someone has extensive experience outside of RN healthcare, which I imagine I may qualify under. However, my current program will conclude by January 2024. I am not sure if it makes sense to switch now and add more time. The only only way it would make sense is if Frontier accepted a lot of my transfer credit. Also, is there anyway to speed up the program if you do have transfer units? Like combining the difference sequences of the program?
