Hello,
I applied to the Women's Health Care Nurse practitioner program at FNU Class 178. I would like to hear from those of you who have applied. It would be great to keep in touch through this process.
Thanks
Yesss congrats on Frontier Bound!! That must have been a major relief to get off the waitlist, you have a lot of relevant experience. It's funny you said that, 2 years ago I was a student the CNM program in Stony Brook in New York, but I got in a car accident and had to drop out . That's why I am super anxious about this WHNP program haha. It is my second round getting back on my feet after bad back injury.
I have worked for Planned Parenthood for 3 years! I didn't know how they prioritize GPA because I have a 3.88 in my BSN and a 3.2 in my ASN. The only other women's health program is 2 hours from where I live so, I really am banking on frontier, its stressful all my eggs in one basket lol!
You are so great, thank you for making that suggestion. I just called Univiserity of Cincinnati and they don't take NY applicants . It's really a shame, I also contacted the NYS board of ED for Nursing in NY, and they said Frontier is the only accredited online WHNP program in NYS. If I don't get an offer for admission, my next best option might be an online FNP program, with a certificate in Women's Health. It's not the best of options but it's something! I really appreciate your suggestion, I am staying persistent no matter what!!!
Wow I can't believe they are closing down programs in your state also. I asked the professor why they closed down the programs near me, and she said it was because they did not have enough staff/faculty to teach. Well, I will let you know when I hear back from Frontier, it could be any time until October. I will have to cut back on checking my emails lol. Have a great start to your first semester!!!

I am CNM 178, was waitlisted at first then accepted. I was at Frontier Bound this week. My GPA was not that great. I only had a 3.1 gpa, but almost 7 years L&D experience and amazing reference forms, and I think a great essay. I have several certifications. I was somewhat shocked when I was waitlisted because I know my experience and resume was amazing so I think if I applied in a less competitive term I would have got in with the first group and not waitlisted. Also, I know my low gpa was a factor. There was a girl with a 4.0 gpa but did not have any L&D or OB related experience, and no certifications that got in automatically.
There was 3 WHNP at bound this week and 1 switched over to CNM. You only want to be WHNP? You have no interest in ever delivering babies?
Where do you work, what is your experience?
