Hi, Is there anyone out there who has applied to the FNP program for Frontier Bound in June? Looking for potential classmates and support while waiting to see if we're accepted. Good luck everyone!
I thought I was the only one feeling irritated by this process. Or maybe it is compounded by waiting to hear if I get a job offer out of state near my elderly parents in Georgia. I am just exhausted by not knowing.
I am more than questioning my choice of timing. Has anyone heard how difficult the first semester is for FNP. A move 500 miles, new job, and this may be too much all at one time. My family is great but it seems a bit much. Thoughts?
I don't know much about the FNP program other than what I've read on here and from one girl I know personally. My understanding is that we all do the basic type classes (theory, patho, pharm, etc.) together at first and then branch off into our groups (FNP, CNM, WHNP).
Balancing a move, a new job, and school would depend on a lot of things. Are you going to be working full-time? Are you going to school full-time? How well do you juggle things in your life? I've read that people with busy families who work full-time have managed, but said it was a balancing act.
I personally started teaching the same year I went back for my BSN through an accelerated program and took classes for my teaching credentials. I also have 5 children and a husband. It was REALLY stressful, because the learning curve on my job was so steep. I got all A's, but feel like I had NO time for my family. I know I don't want my family to suffer so I have decided not to work while going to school. Of course that option is not available for everyone and to be quite honest I may decide to work after I start school and test the waters. You just never know.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is it depends on you. I personally would give it a shot and if it proves to be too much right now, then cross that bridge when you come to it. You are probably just getting cold feet. I know I have a couple of times. That's one of the reasons why I wish the decisions would just come already.
I posted a very nice request for an update on their fb page, maybe we will at least get that in the morning.
I'm in the same boat. Hubby wants to move from NC to CA or Seattle. Literally all the way across the country right about the time classes will start. Even without kids, the idea of packing everything up, selling what won't fit, driving cross country setting up shop in a new place, new jobs, no friends or family, PLUS just getting into and figuring out this grad school thing. My mind is swimming just thinking about it.
Thanks Skelton for posting request. I hope we get some sort of update or answers. I'm right there with the rest of you...Stressed in the waiting!! I've held out on my other program...hoping daily to get the news. Need to decide soon...other fnp program are beginning registration for classes yesterday.
You may be right about cold feet. I will be working full time and going to school full time. The mixed blessing of nursing is that there are so many options. I am just going crazy with potential changes. Same employer for 17 years, same house for 10 and never moved very far. The whole family really appreciates consistency so all these potential changes have us all in an uncomfortable limbo.
HI!! I am so excited to have found this thread! I'm Allie. I'm married and have a two year old little girl. I am a L&D RN, BSN with previous ICU experience. I work full time night shift and have applied for FNP Class 139. I live in Virginia so I will be driving to frontier bound. I have also been doing the constant e-mail refreash. I was excited to see I was not the only one waiting for a response. I do hope we all hear something soon though. I also did not know about the waiting list. I could not imagine how much more stress that will add. Prayers none of us have to experience that. Does anyone know how many applicants they accept into a class?
Welcome Allie! You most certainly are not alone. I looked for the same info too when researching frontier and this was the best I could come up with

The anticipation for this has changed from being fun and a little exciting to annoying right now.
