From Straight A Student to Straight B Student. HELP!

Published

Hello guys. So this is my first semester of Nursing School. Before Nursing School, I maintained high As in all of my pre-requisites and was pretty involved with many extracurricular activities. However, now that I am in Nursing School, all I can get are straight Bs with only a few extracurricular activities..... It is so frustrating because I have tried so many different study methods and I just feel like I am cursed. Yes, I understand that my situation could be a lot worse but it is even more frustrating when all of my teachers constantly tell me that they expect better grades from me and that I should be receiving high Bs or As. This semester I took concepts and clinical competencies, assessment, and pharmacology. Next semester I will be taking a few online courses, adult I, and women's health. Are there any tips you guys would recommend for me to possibly make As? Thank you in advance!

Practice taking test questions? A lot of students struggle with NCLEX-style wording.

Also, relax a little bit and don't beat yourself up over the grades as much. In the end, very few people care where their RN was in school and instead want a great bedside manner. Stressing yourself out over this may negatively impact your health. I can't tell which nurse is a ADN, BSN, MSN, or diploma. I can't tell you which one was the top of their class or barely struggling to pass. I can't tell you which one was an LPN before, a tech before, EMT before, or never worked a day in their lives before becoming an RN.

Our instructors used to say "C means continue".
