I have been a nurse for almost 25 years. Got my license when I was 21 yrs. old but ended up in the Psych. field of nursing could not get a medical nursing job due to the cut in M-Care during the Reagan years. I also worked Sub-acute for 13 years and continued with Psych. Now that my hospital is closing our Psych. unit I want to make a transition into the medical/surgical nursing. How will I go about this? Other hospitals don't hire nurses with only sub-acute experience.

I guess it depends on where you live. In my area most hospitals are willing to orient a seasoned nurse in all areas. I know a woman that switched from a total psych background to ED. I would surely get my face/resume out there. Good luck!
