Stars that's good that you're willing to give her a 2nd chance, hopefully she works out

Dianah hope you have fun at the camp out

NJ22 glad the doctor visit when well

Work was good yesterday, was able to get done a bit early, which gave me time to pack.  Not that I need much packing for only a 2 day trip.  Ran some errands after work

Today will go bird watching this morning, then will finish packing and then drive down to my aunt's.  Will be about a 3 hour drive

Hoping to miss the rain, but we'll see.  It's supposed to start raining in the afternoon, I hope I'll at least be most of the way there before it starts.

Will be a similar day to yesterday, in the low to mid 80s.

Good morning!

Safe travels Joe.
Worked the last two days.  It was okay.  One guy decided to go AMA while we were in report and the night nurse had never discontinued a PICC line so I did it.  He was upset the doctor d/c'd his morphine.  It was a stupid decision on his part, but bye Felicia...I'll show you the door.

Slept pretty well last night, but this time I woke up repeatedly during the morning, like 8 AM, 9:15, and 10:30 AM. Got up, fed Momo, and made coffee: now I am back  in bed wondering what I need to get done today. I do have a med refill at Walmart but still have 1/2 dozen left, so I may wait another day to go pick it up, The dishes have been washed and put away. Don't know yet what shape Nannie's bed is in, but I'd love to find NO wet spots on her sheets, etc. However, I don't have to get her up for another hour and 1/2. The suspense is not killing me.

A brazen little mouse came out from under my bed last evening, he stopped to eat a pistachio he found on the floor. I was so mad, I cussed "Get outta here you little _______!" and I threw a magazine at him (wow, that'll take care of him, eh?) Anyway, I set a trap and at some point during the night he filched the bait without setting off the trap! Will have to use something else for bait that he cannot get easily. I was hoping to be awakened by a loud SNAP! but alas....it did not happen. Momo hasn't caught sight of it yet; I doubt she will, and even if she did, she wouldn't do anything anyway. If she was young and not traumatized earlier in her life, she might have been on it in the blink of an eye. Oh well. I love her anyway. I didn't 'hire her' for mouse-duty. Besides, this is  only the second mouse  we've had in 8 years, and as long as it's not a pregnant she, I feel I can eliminate the problem soon.

The only gypsy-ish aching is in my thighs today, but the meds should start working pretty soon and hopefully will take care of that. Weird how the pain moves around, but at least I know 'this too shall pass" because it seems to do just that, eventually. Until the next time!

I won $40 on a ten dollar scratch off ticket. Big haul, huh? I don't buy lottery tickets but just once in a while. It was one of those moments when I thought about some old guy going into a convenience store and "on a whim" he bought a sweepstakes entry and ended up winning hundreds of thousands of dollars......and why can't the same thing happen for me? I guess everyone feels that way and it's what drives the sales.

I suppose I'll make another cup of coffee, because I just want to pee and pee and pee all afternoon. 🤪 After a while I'll get dressed and do the Get-Nannie-Up thing. It is supposed to be hot and humid today (around 90 degrees) with a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon or early evening. Last night we had one of those and I had to close the drapes for Nannie so the lightning wouldn't strike her. 🙄 If you can't see it, it can't hurt you, right?  🤔 That's a very scientific bit of knowledge, you know.

No more to yak about at present, but there's always the rest of the day to come, so whoooooo knows?!

BiL brought the pill refills over at 2 PM and I gave them to Nannie right away. I've been HOPING she would nap, but it is an hour and a half since she took the meds and they don't seem to be having the effect they did yesterday....but yesterday's half tablet (of the 1 + 1/2 she takes every day) was a bigger half, which could account for the sleepiness. Now I'll be wishing all the half tablets to be "fat ones". 🙃

Although I was the one who picked out her clothing for her to wear today, Nannie has been fiddling with and gazing at the way the colors match and play off each other....tan, peach, blue, white, maroon....and then she says, "Look,,,,look," demonstrating by lifting up the sweater's top sleeve and comparing it with the sleeve of the jersey of the sleeve underneath it, showing me how well all the colors blend. And she has made a point of having me 'notice' that, oh about 6 times already. I already found out that ----me saying that I was the one who dressed her in those clothes this morning, so it's unlikely I didn't know how it all looked--- was not a helpful or acknowledged comment. Oh well, live and learn! 🤣

Had some Tuscan bean salad I got at the HFS, but it was soooo bland. I added pepper-corn salad dressing to it, and that fixed it so it was "fit to eat"......an expression from Nannie's mouth every time she served any food to anybody: "Well, I hope it's fit to eat."  I know 'all them beans' are healthy for ya, so I feel pretty righteous for eatin' ;em!

OMG. There are squirrels and birds in the back yard.....imagine that, yet another occasion for Nannie to say "Look, look..." (Okay, sarcasm isn't always nice, Stars!)

The End.....for now!  😘

Another stormy night. Neighbor lost a tree and I noticed one that was broken in half in front of the Edward Jones office. But we are fine. We didn't die. When we were first watching the news report of a large tornadic storm in SW Oklahoma, I was beginning to think we might. Hubs actually went so far as to pack a suitcase and pack up our important papers. Dory did pretty well.

I took Dory to  the vet today because I had forgotten she needed to be re-checked after we treated her for hookworm a few weeks ago. All clear. But now I remain puzzled about her recent weight loss. She still eats well but is noticeably thinner. I am further puzzled because I thought her heartworm prevention would protect her from parasites like hookworm. Apparently there was an ant in the fecal sample today, proof that she eats all kinds of things when she can. The good news is that her skin looks so much better and hair is starting to regrow where she had her "hot spot."

Time to worry about what everyone will eat tonight. We have a pleasantly confused patient on the floor who keeps calling out "Hello? Is somebody here?" The nurses just holler "Hello" back to her and she is content.

I should plan at least some sort of cooked-on-the-grill meal this weekend in honor of the holiday. I donated a little money to the small-town cemetery where my parents are buried (roughly 10 miles west of us) because they are wanting to buy special markers for all the veterans.

Ah, well, I think tonight is going to be taco night. Which means a quick stop at Cash Saver for a few items.

At 10:47 PM one of the two mouse traps I set in the kitchen went *SNAP!* I went down and turned on the light and sure enough, the mouse had been caught right across its mid-back. It's a good thing, because earlier when I was getting supper, I opened the drawer which holds the pot holders and saw where two edges of one had be nibbled and shredded, and strewn around. That's when I said to myself, Ooohhhhh, no, this nest-building activity don't cut it with me! And that's when I opened the cabinet door to under the sink, so the little bugger could get out from there easily....and I set Peanut-butter'd traps on the floor about 2 feet from each side of the cabinet door, so it would find one of them either way it turned. BINGO!

I left one other set trap down there, and have one trap set in my room, just-in-case the mouse had invited company. But I do think it was the only mouse in the house.
