Here's the Snopes take on that story:
Woke up to heavy rain and a thunderstorm; actually it's kind of nice! I enjoy a good thunderstorm. My mom made storms interesting instead of scary; we were always counting between the lightning and the sound of thunder, to see how far away it was. Plus we all watched the very tall, skinny pine tree in the old cemetery behind our house, and waited for years for it to be blown over. It never did blow over.
Had my meds and a cup of coffee while lounging in bed, but, alas it is time to get dressed and go downstairs to get Nannie up.
Prolly will come back by later to see who else might've posted....
Hello all!
Joe, cookbook book club sounds interesting. I'm sure there will be lots from which to choose!
No Stars, I hope Nannie is sleepy today. Yes, that Amazon call was spam. I get lots of scam emails from Amazon and PayPal. I just label them as spam and they are removed.
We went to Disneyland yesterday, for my birthday (I am now 69, hard to believe! I *usually* don't feel "old"!!). IT. WAS. WINDY!!! I have never been there in such wind! Gusts up to 30 mph, and it was 15-20mph most of the time, dying down after 6pm -- which was when we had decided to leave (gotta get home and take little dogger out to pee). We dressed dapper, but I should have worn something different than the gauze long skirt that I chose. The wind just wreaked havoc with it! I even bought four pair of mickey earrings, and applied them all, spaced out, near the hem of the skirt -- to act like skirt weights! They helped a little, but I don't think much would help in that wind! We still enjoyed our visit!
We went on the newly-refurbished Mark Twain (it still smelled of paint!), once around Tom Sawyer's Island (the rafts that ferry ppl over to the island were not running, and neither were the canoes), and during the day heard three of our favorite bands.
We went on Soaring over California, as single riders (you don't wait in the 40-50-minute Standby line, but instead wait probably 5-10 min to be escorted in, to fill up spaces in groups on the ride. Needless to say, dh and I didn't ride together, which is OK with us). It has been a few years since I've been on that ride, and enjoyed it as always! They even provide different olfactory experiences: pine smell when you are soaring over a pine forest and river, and oranges when soaring over So Cal's orange groves, to name a couple. 🙂
I was tired, though, after battling the wind, and ready to leave after dinner! Our routine is for dh to drive out, and me to drive home, which I did (it usually takes us an hour each way). Today will be just recovery and doing a few things around the house.
Have a good day!
Happy Birthday, dianah!
Another day of some more of Nannie's wet laundry. I decided 'sloth' was in the cards for today, and her laundry was all I did. Then BiL and SiL came by and we sat and yakked for a while. It is now time to prepare something for Nannie to eat for supper, and turn on the TV to hear the news. Several evenings a week I skip the news-casts, but then I see stuff on line..., so not watching the TV news doesn't really keep me from knowing that the world is going insane! SMH. *sigh*
To the kitchen..............
Ms. Nannie had a few hissy fits during the routine way we always get her ready for bed. I told her to just park her walker at the bedroom door, and........."BUT I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM!" Geeze, okay, that's always been a part of putting her to bed, so I don't know why she yelled at me about it. Then, as always, I said....put your hands on the towel bar, and I will get your britches pulled down, so she started pulling her britches down and I said again, put your hands on the towel bar. (She gets unsteady and I want her to hang on so she doesn't fall over.) Then she just had to inform me what to put on her, from the basket of pullups and pads by the toilet; Then she grabbed her pants away from me and said, "THIS is the front side!" (Yah, I know) After she got in bed and I pulled her covers up over her, she wanted to get up and put something different on. "Do you want to put on a set of pajamas?"... "No. What have YOU got on?" so I told her I had on a turtleneck jersey and a vest. She said, "That will be fine." ..."No, Nannie, these are my clothes that I am wearing, you can't get up and put them on to go to bed in. When you get up tomorrow, then we'll find something else you want to wear." She heaved a sharp, loud sigh out of her nose, pinched her lips shut and sharply turned her head away from me. No response to me when I said, "Hope you sleep well." So I then said, "See you in the morning." Crickets! I said, a little louder, "Good night, Nannie." and got a vehement "HMPH!" back at me. 🙄 I know she has dementia and it is getting worse, but she has so seldom been SO irritated, except with hubby when he was still here. Mad because I wouldn't let her put on the clothes I was wearing? I dunno, but that's dementia for ya!
I'm going upstairs with Momo, she is a much better conversationalist than Nannie, and she doesn't get rude!
SiL and BiL said they will come over tomorrow and do yardwork, if it doesn't rain tonight. Fine by me! I don't do 'yahd-werk' 😃 so they can have at it!
Okay that's my all of my venting for now!
I've just had to listen to Hubs getting his mom to bed. She went willingly enough but when she had to pull her pants down to sit on the toilet she freaked out and got defiant. Then she starts cussing him out. She scratched him. He showed me the red place on his arm. I reminded him that he said last night he needed to be sure to trim her fingernails. He said, "I *did* trim her nails!" Oh. Good thing.
This is almost every night now that she gets so wound up and angry.

A good day at work yesterday, not to slow and not too busy, ended on a fairly quiet note. And I have today off
After work I exercised and checked out a new social site for people over 50 called Stitch. Seems promising, has in person and online stuff available, going to give it a try and see. I'll keep it solely for friends and socializing, will use the dating sites for dating
Today going to head out for bird watching then will stop by a local library to sign up for a cookbook bookclub. I figure it will be a change of pace from regular book club and give us more chances to socialize. Will also do more research on ongoing pickleball games near me
Going to be cooler today, in the low 50s. Thankfully it won't rain, and didn't rain that much yesterday
