Good morning!
Joe, I admire you for getting out there. I've done online cooking clubs but not in person.
Off today. Did the sheets and went to get a haircut. Going to the gym later but not much else planned. Working the weekend.
We have a mobile dermatologist screening service coming next week to work. Last time they were here they didn't have an appointment available and I promised myself I'd go when they came back. I've never had a screening and it's covered by insurance so what the heck. Local dermatologists are hard to get into for new patients and I really don't have any concerns, but I thought a thorough screening would be good at least once. Takes only 15 minutes.
Hope you have a good day.
Howdy....it is afternoon, in the low 60's, cool, and is going to rain in a while. I put the flowers back outside so they could get watered by Mother Nature. Hope the birdies stay away from attempting to build a nest in them, When I came back inside I said "Brrr, it's chilly out there!" Nannie told me yes, she saw the plants "shivering". (I was taking off the dry/dead flower petals. it was not "shivering". 🙄 ) So, 10 minutes after she had breakfast and meds, her eyes are closed. I like it! I have to finish drying her laundry, and fortunately that does NOT include her sheets!
Momo is back to her normal self, she charged at and gobbled up her breakfast, and made use of her pee pad with #1 and #2. GOOD!
Naturally I have to dash out to a store and resupply the cranapple juice and milk. Prolly will pick up a couple of lottery tickets. I also have to look through the bills and decide what has to be paid. My SS check comes in on Monday, and I feel like it is already mostly spent. But I get my $400 check from BiL and SiL, for my caretaking Nannie job, in about a week, and also Nannie's $400 for groceries, etc. so it's all good. SiL does the purchasing of incontinence products, so that's not part of what I have to spend on her, thank goodness. They aren't cheap, and are covered by the Health Insurance SiL has switched Nannie to.
I feel pretty good, so maybe I will get into some tasks and whatnot. Who knows! You'll notice I didn't say I WILL be doing them; every time I tell y'all what I WILL be doing, I DON'T! So.....stay tuned, but don't hold your breath!
Hope y'all have a good rest of the afternoon and evening.
Joe, too bad the cookbook group was disappointing, but you never know until you try. It sounds as if there are some local people here who want to have a pickleball setup at one of the parks. It looks do-able even for someone old, fat, and out-of-shape like me.
What a crazy day, Tweety. I hope you enjoy your day off. I think it's a good idea to have a dermatology scan at this approximate point in life (not that I have done it yet). I, for one, grew up in the sun and without using sunscreen very much. Being light-skinned and light-eyed, I had many sunburns. I think both my parents had small basal cell carcinomas removed from their faces.
I don't answer calls I don't recognize, either, figuring they will leave a message if they really need to get hold of me.
Work is still unrelenting. I'll get something figured out, I hope. Looks like we'll be mostly in the upper 50s/low 60s for a few days, with possible thunderstorms Sunday.
I can't remember if I complained here about a grouchy patient we had this week. He was really irritable and unhappy but as the week progressed and he was in less pain his attitude changed. A good reminder that people's attitudes and moods are affected by not feeling well. I still think his expectations were unrealistic and I don't feel obligated to try to meet unrealistic expectations, but I'll give him a partial pass.
I've had to tell a patient their pain is not license to have bad behavior. I told him all the patients are in pain on my unit and he's the only one being rude. But yeah, I often give passes to ill moods and snappiness because people aren't feeling well. I get it. A patient apologized to me Wednesday for being grumpy to me in the morning as he fussed about his pain medication schedule. I told him I didn't even notice. I must be immune to it by now. LOL
There's an ad to the side that says a quiz "Which of the following skin cancers is most likely to cause ulceration". Are there smart ads that know what we're talking about in the threads?
I am not fair skinned but have spent a lot of time in the sun, especially younger days.
I went to the gym today, followed by the grocery store. I was hungry and almost bought some Pringles or something to munch on as I often do when I'm hungry, but I was strong. LOL
I have a "dermatology quiz" and a "cardiology quiz" popping up on my right. The dermatology is about a steroid cream and the cardiology is about classic MI symptoms. So I don't know if we're getting smart targeted advertising or not.
The funniest one I ever got was when the boys were teens and I complained (mildly!) on facebook about them arguing. The ad that popped up was "Why boarding school?" or "Why military school?" something like that.
I don't have any ads popping up, because I have Ad Remover; it does keep me from doing a few things here, but it's not bad enough to shut down the ad remover. I can't stand all those things flickering in and out; They annoy the beegeebers out of me, There is one ad that comes up only on my Yahoo acct, it is for "LightInTheBox" clothing. There is nowhere to unsubscribe from them, but I did send them a crabby letter about it; they said it would take 6-8 weeks to take care of that, but it is past time, so they are going to get another crabby letter from me. They oughtn't to hope I'll EVER order anything from them! You know: cold day in Hades, and pigs flying, and all that!
So, what I did do today: go out to get the milk and cranapple juice, and pick up something for Nannie's supper. Of course in the "I forgot" category is a book of stamps. I'll get some somewhere tomorrow and mail off the bills I have already written checks for. And Monday I will be taking care of three more bills to pay. Other than the auto withdrawals --> payments on my car, and supplemental insurance, and a magazine subscription, that's it for the monthly payments. (w00t!)
I definitely need to have an all-over skin check. We went to the beach every Sunday in my childhood during the summers (Never used even Copper tone!), and spent 2 weeks vacation on a lake in N.H, hanging out on the dock or rowing around in the rowboat. Then in my 20's I did a lot of sun-bathing with the baby oil. Had to stop when I started getting a bumpy, itchy rash (hives?) on my chest from being in the sun; I guess I was about 27 or 28 when I quit laying out to get tanned. But, like my Mom, my torso is riddled with various "things" .... different colors and shapes, some itchy and some not. I'm sure the Dermatologist will find plenty to TSK-TSK over, and surely some to remove.
Still need to trim my bangs, but I know better than to do it when I am tired!

Stars the spammers do seem to be going crazy, get a lot of spam emails recently
Dianah I do the same with calls I don't recognize
NJ22 sounds like a nice evening
Tweety that is a crazy number of admissions and discharges
Thankfully work was not as busy as I feared, despite the person who was off having a new case I had to take care of. Counseling during lunch was productive, and I even had time to help out at the end of the day
The cookbook club was rather disappointed. Fairly small turnout, and despite being nice the people weren't that welcoming, compared with some of my other groups. Might be because it was lead by one of the librarians, who was rather quiet and awkward, which probably set the tone for the group. Glad I at least gave it a try
Today may be busy at work, a lot on the schedule, but we'll see how quickly it all goes. Might take part of my lunch hour to wash sheets. Otherwise it will be a quieter night than last night
Getting some light snow, will get up to about 40 again today
