We are in the upper 60's, may get to low 70's! It rained last night, but not as much as they had told us it might. It is partly cloudy/partly sunny. Nannie made her usual remark about the sun being bright.
The red-bellied woodpecker (who does not have a red belly) is at the bird feeder right now. He takes a seed, looks around: up, down, left. and right, before he takes another seed. The other birds (various finches and sparrows, chickadees, tufted titmice, smaller woodpeckers, mourning doves, cardinals. blue jays, etc.) are busily gobbling up seeds as well. Oh yeah, and a few squirrels are chowing down on sunflower seeds.
So, a while ago, while I was having coffee out on the front porch, hubby came around from the carport, taking small steps, looking down. That's his "tell" that he's been drinking. Then he asked me if I wanted him to go pick up a sandwich for Nannie and I said no, I'd make her a sandwich myself. Thinking to keep him from driving...but he said he was going to the store and would be right back. You gotta KNOW he's doing his vodka-run.
Don't worry, Tweety, I am not holding my breath or expecting hubby to suddenly have an epiphany. I am just not continuing to try to figure things out for him to detox and rehab; This is a "letting go" is a mental-health break for ME.
I think I told you last week that hubby had pitting-edema in his left foot for several days. It's gone down now and instead, his right hand has pitting- edema. I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another. I wonder what organ or system is going to bring him down. He has an appt w/ doc next Thursday, not that it will make a heck of a lot of difference.
It is siesta time in the den. I am doing more laundry, and looking around on my laptop, and watching the critters.
48 degrees here, partly sunny. I am trying to read my homework about soil, but I keep getting distracted. I pulled the sheets off the bed and through them in the washer, and folded the towels. I've been trying to toss out stuff that is worn or we never use. Stuff that just seems to accumulate and you might need that some day. I tosses some old ratty face cloths, and some tin foil pie pans. I accidentally dropped my mom's old pyrex baking dish last night and broke it. That thing must have been at least 60 years old. But I have another, nice non-stick one to take its place. I also tossed some old rusty loaf pans.
Youngest ds came home from his school bus driving orientation which seems to be going well. He did a safety test today, and then has to test for extra endorsements for his driving license next week. He also dropped off a bunch of stuff at Goodwill that dh was willing to part with, mainly Christmas decorations. I got a short run in, and picked up meds at the pharmacy. dh is out getting groceries and I think he was going to see his mom. He is likely going to start volunteering at the food bank next week. According to the paper the transit bus that took out a power pole and most of the town's power yesterday suffered a medical emergency. I shake my head over the hateful things said on the neighbors face book, accusing the driver of taking drugs or blaming it on vaccine. I swear there are a lot of mean people in this town. On the other hand, there is a little old lady, probably 90, who walks in the afternoon and waves to everyone. I always smile and wave too! Okay, I better get back to soil science. Gotta remember the difference between elluviation and illuviation, doncha know.

Stars I'm glad the appointment went well. And a good idea to let him do some things and not do everything yourself
Dianah I made soup too for this week
Ado I'm glad everything turned out OK with the cat
Hi Tweety
NJ22 that's cool that you have this other interest you can now take up after retirement
Work was better yesterday, even had time to help others. Helping to cover for someone who is off today so chances are work will be busier today
After work updated my resume with my additional state certifications, and on LinkedIn and Indeed too. Might look and see what companies hire nurse case managers, but that might be jumping the gun a bit, unless there are signs of a layoff
Also worked at finding counselors in my area, was using Healthgrades. Today I'll ask the insurance company as well, see who's in network. And see what the employee assistance program can offer
Tonight will be a quieter night. Need to see if I can find some aluminum 9x9 pans for some baking tomorrow. Otherwise it will be the usual hot bath and white Russian
Will be in the upper 30s today, no more rain expected
