Fresno City Fall 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello to you all. I would like to introduce myself. I am a student at Fresno City College that is "patiently" awaiting to be selected for the Registered Nurse ADN program. The results from the September lotto was not a lucky draw for me. The results actually came out earlier than the September 22 date so I received the news that I was not selected early since a check the status page periodically. I will be forwarding my application to the next lotto which will be held in Feb. of 2014. This is my first time applying so this will be my first time in the lotto. From what I understand, there are 4 times going through the lotto process before you are placed in the special lotto which allows you 2 shots instead of one in the lotto but there are still no guarantees. I have not taken the TEAS V as of yet but I am purchasing the study guide from the ATI test site soon and planning to take the test before the next drawing. There is an urban legend going around and people are saying that your chances of being selected are better if you take the test prior to admission as opposed to waiting until you are accepted which doesn't make sense since it is supposed to be a randomized system. Anyways......I would like to have the test completed. Is anyone else in the lotto already and if so is this your first, second, third....... time and if so what are your plans while you wait. Or maybe you have been accepted. If not what are your hopes for the next lotto in Feb. 2015. Please comment and leave your thoughts. I think that we can all use a little encouragement because we have all worked so hard to get this far and it can seem a little confusing just waiting it out. Please let me know and hope to hear from you all soon. If you were selected, would be so kind and tell us about your journey. My lotto journey has just begun, but my desire to become a nurse has been here for a while. All are welcomed to comment. Thanks again!

Hi! I'm glad I found this article. I am also anxiously waiting for this lotto. I too applied in September, 2014 and didn't get in so I forwarded my application. I'm nervous for the results this time around! I really hope we do get in. It's been such a long wait for me and I keep beating myself up for not having my adn completed already (I'm 24). Those prerequisites sure did take some time though considering I did absolutely everything for Fresno States nursing program thinking I could get in. Yeah right! I feel like Fresno City is my only real option. I am very dedicated to my studies and have been a full time student since 2009 with the exception of this semester off. (I've taken way too many bs classes along the way!) I have an interview scheduled next week for SJVC's program but I'm not sure if it's the best option. I mean tuition there is 58,000 compared to only 7,000 at FCC. SJVC's adn doesn't really transfer to many schools either. I'm at a loss here. I am torn between waiting until I get in at FCC, going to SJVC (if I get passed the interview), or just trying to go to an adult school to get my lvn first. I wish I could go back in time and start over I think I'd have a better chance at getting in somewhere if I could erase my academic history and start over. I mean my gpa isn't too bad (above 3.0) but nowhere close to 4.0. Life happens and I've learned from my mistakes that's for sure! I feel I am definitely ready to take this challenge on. I also have medical assisting training so hopefully that will come in handy! I'll continue to pray that we get into FCC nursing program for Fall 2015. Hopefully we do then we can be study buds!

Hi, I'm also waiting for the results later this month. This is my first semester applying tot the nursing program. I took the TEAS and scored an 89%. I have mostly A's in my pre-reqs, but my overall GPA isn't great. I wasted a lot of time taking classes for a major that I was not passionate about, and my grades show it. I wish I realized a lot earlier that nursing was what I wanted to do. That's okay though, I'm remaining positive and know that I will get started as soon as it's meant to be! Good luck to everyone else in the lottery.

Good luck to you too. I am so hopeful for this lotto to be the one!!! That's good you have taken the TEAS. I was told that if you have submitted app prior to the Feb. lotto that you still have time. I still have to take mineí ½í¸–

samelaine09 have you taken the TEAS test yet? Let me know if you get in and I'll do the same. Love to have you as a study bud!!
