Starting a thread for applicants in 2021 year.

I was wondering the same thing; a few people back in this thread replied. I’m a first time applicant, 92 TEAS, 4.0 science GPA and a prior AS. I actually completed my BS in Healthcare Management just after the application period closed so it won’t count, but if I don’t get into FCC, I’ll apply to FSU for their second degree BSN program.

I had spoken to a counselor a while back who alluded to it being a sort of weighted lottery...obviously who really knows, but I found that interesting. Obviously that’s what I’m hoping for, I kind of hate that all my hard work to score high on the TEAS and literally 6 hours a day of studying in my math/science classes to earn a 4.0 might not count for anything with FCC. I knew that going in, but still. ?

In regard for not counting for anything, I just wanted to say: Modesto gives 15 points for an A in English 1A but only 5 points for a bachelors degree. I just about died laughing on the logic of that. 60 units < one 4 unit class. Random but I had to share

That’s wild! I agree it doesn’t make sense, but I appreciate that they have it published as to how they do it. Part of what drives me crazy about FCC’s application process is that they don’t have much information about how they conduct the whole deal.

I feel like you could get into state with those stats

I didn't apply to Fresno State's program because of my TEAS score. I took the test a week before Fresno City's apps were due. I don't want to retake that exam, but it might be a good idea for me to take it one more time to be more competitive.

I think the avg was 86 for the State people who got in over the years. Your score is there. I’m with you on not wanting to retake it. I earned an 89 and found it to be easier than the SAT I took twenty years ago. That being said, after that test my brain cells were like nope never again, there’s better stuff out there to focus on....... wine ? for instance.

I’m kind of interested to know the stats (TEAS, science GPA, prior degree or medical experience) of the applications that are still pending and if they are first time applicants. I know it’s lottery based but wondering if it’s point related? Like those applications  were on the cusp of qualifying for the lottery and they’re waiting to see if they qualify? Or opposite, they qualified 100% and everyone who Is eligible now are the lower point people

I don’t think stats matters, it’s more a matter of your app was probably bottom of the pile, I have terrible stats and I got updated to eligible in early March. I’m a second time applicant but it seemingly doesn’t matter.

TEAS: 84

GPA: 3.45

Maybe not so competitive for Fresno state applying fall semester but maybe you’ll luck out for Spring semester!!

Those aren’t terrible at all. I hate that nursing schools want a perfect on paper person.

If I don’t get into FCC I’m going to try Fresno State in July.

For non-lotto nursing schools in California, it is. I graduated with my bachelors thinking I did pretty good for being chronically sick the last 3 years of it. I know I’m smart, my last year of prerequisites I went back to school for in 2019 I got all A’s and one B (which was an A until I flunked the final)

I can relate! I Had an A in A&P 2 but Dr gilbert gave me a B in the end. I still don't understand it to this day but oh well....

Found this. Apparently City has to submit their criteria to the chancellor every year that they use multi criteria.

I just flunked a test, tried to see if there was anything I could do, but there wasn’t. I was so close to all A’s in my prerequisites like I set out to. Blew it, because family stuff came up the week of finals and I couldn’t concentrate.
