Starting a thread for applicants in 2021 year.

I heard this year was record breaking on the amount of applicants. Definitely not making feel like I’ll get picked this year either ??♀️
Does anyone know how many applications they received this year? I wonder if it just gets worse...

I reached out to ask if there’s an issue with the system just to make sure and was told “wait for the lottery, it hasn’t been conducted yet”, even though I was only asking for the status change for eligibility. Apparently my question wasn’t clear enough...???
No offense, but you shouldn’t manifest at all. There’s over 1000 applicants and they only take 220 and it’s via “lottery”. This is my 2nd time applying. They did the same thing to me last year. I changed a few days before they conducted the lottery. It’s not worth stressing over and it’s completely out of your control. You’ve done what is required to apply, now it’s the waiting game unfortunately. I have also discovered that it is highly likely that our area is the only one that operates like this and takes months to give answers while other schools out of state give results in weeks after the period has closed. I’m looking to go out of state because of how crappy it is here. Again, I in no way are trying to hurt your feelings. Just saying the truth.
I agree with @Psycholing. The first time I applied was back in Fall 2017. I think in 2018, they changed the application process to once a year (Jan-Feb) and run 2 lotteries for the oncoming Fall and Spring semesters. Before, it was apply once for each semester. And I've been applying every time since Fall 2017 and still haven't been selected. This is my 5th time applying. It can be nerve wrecking checking your status every day but please don't be disappointed or discouraged at the lottery result. There's just too many applicants and not enough seats for all of us. Good luck to everyone though!!

The odds aren't bad. You have a 1/5 or 20% chance of being chosen.

I mean that’s according to last year’s statistics, if they were “record breaking” I don’t know if they mean like 1 more person than last year applied or they mean they got like 1200 which would make it 1 and 6 which is less than 20%.
I never win anything, which is why I don’t gamble or play the lotto, this is the only time I’ve ever “gambled” and it’s for something important, so hopefully I get picked! It would be the only lotto I ever need to win.

I'm just trying to stay positive that's all, without getting too positive where I get my hopes up, but if I constantly think "I won't get in because there is a ton of applicants" will cause self doubt, and that's not healthy, thank you for the info though.

I spoke with Michelle Hoff on the phone right before applications closed (if memory serves, it was a day or two before the deadline) and she said there were about 1000 applicants up to that point. Also of note, she said just because a person has applied, that doesn't necessarily mean they met all the requirements for GPA, TEAS, and prerequisites. A different advisor had told me that in years past there would be about 1000 applicants and of those, about 800 would be eligible for the lottery. So, it sounds like even though this is a record breaking year, it's not a heck of a lot more applicants than usual....unless hundreds of eligible applicants waited till the very last day to apply.

That’s reassuring.

I looked at State Community colleges, and was told $156 per unit at one and more than that at another. And it’s triple that if you don’t change residency. I don’t even consider any private for profits, they’re too much in Fresno or Tennessee (they have Marian and South College which are closer to my house, but I don’t like anything about private colleges, the way they do things or the cost). Not to mention the pay is lower starting in Florida and Texas, and Tennessee as well. Would want to live in the Nashville area and their cost of living is similar to Fresno, and Fresno probably pays $10 more an hour than in Nashville.
