Free standing surgery center vs. Hospital same day surgery

Hello my fellow super heroe nurses!

I'm an RN considering applying to a 6am-2:30pm same day surgery position at a hospital. I currently work pre-op/pacu at a free standing ambulatory surgery center.

I've been a nurse for 18 years with half of those years as an ER nurse.

What differences can I expect working in same day surgery connected to the hospital versus a free standing surgery center.

Thanks so much!

Can you clarify by what "connected to the hospital" entails? Is it actually within the hospital building itself?

Yes it's in the hospital building.

In my world (limited to only one organization with a day surgery center located next door to the main OR and an outpatient facility in the same building as primary and surgeon practices), the only true difference is the immediate availability of resources in an emergency. No 911 call, you're already in the building. These patients, if something went south, go to the main PACU instead of the day surgery PACU and are admitted to the nursing unit from there.

In a hospital setting you will see Bigger surgeries, and sicker people. Also you will be working longer hours, and public holidays/nights/weekends/on call.
