A couple weeks ago I was let go from shadowing an NP, but I kept inquiring and calling around and I found an NP who was willing to allow for me to shadow her. I asked upfront did I have to be a nurse or a student and she said no. I also mentioned that I was applying to Master Entry programs and we scheduled for a day next week. Im so happy.... I guess all it takes is tenacity and perserverance and life will align us with the right opportunities.
I was in the dumps 2 weeks ago after being let go from shadowing one NP, but I guess the old saying goes if one door closes another one opens.

Congrats! I was able to shadow an NP recently, and it was an incredible experience. Definately helped me get a better in-depth idea about her speciality.

Great job! I'm wondering, where did you call to locate NPs to shadow?
I called the local hospitals in Michigan where I live and asked for their nursing unit or volunteer services and asked about shadowing NP's. They usually would email the NP's with my information about inquiring about shadowing and luckily one NP took me on.

Hi there Christinajoy! didn't know you're right here in Michigan...and you're having trouble finding an NP to shadow? you must be looking in the wrong places. I know quite a bit of NP's where I work and ones I went to school with. What part of Michigan are you from and what specialization are you interested in? I can definitely hook you up....

I am still looking for a NP to shadow in the Austin or Houston area - There are NPs that work in my medsurg unit, but I believe they are ANP. Does anyone know a ACNP or FNP that would be willing?
Hi PinoyNP;I live in Detroit. I did find an NP to shadow at U of M hospital and my specialty of interest is Women's Health. If you know of any WHNP in the Detroit metropolitan area please feel free to let me know. Each experience i've had has been a good learning experience.--Christina
WHNP, hmmm... no wonder you're having a rough time finding one to shadow 'cause I myself couldn't recall a person who does that off the top of my head. Well, let's do this...which particular university program are you interested in? I know the name of the person that directs the CNM and WHNP programs at WSU (she is actually a CNM but don't know her personally though), maybe if you email her, she can direct you to someone. Here's her link: http://www.nursing.wayne.edu/Faculty/Directory/ar7235fp.html
