we had to do group presentations a few weeks ago and our instructor posted the grades this morning. She gave me a "C". I was furious! So I went to class early tonight and asked her to show me her breakdown of the marks. Why did I get such a crappy mark! She showed me the rubric she used (the same that we were following when putting the presentation together) and I asked her how she could take off marks when the content presented was what she asked for! She said "I guess I didnt follow what you presented"....um...what?? lol I speak english (no possible misunderstandings there!) and we used 6 different sources (she asked for 3). My groupmates did not even want to fight....lol but I wont settle for a "C" without a fight! So, I continued to pressure her for more answers...how can we lose marks for "creative design of slides" when powerpoint only has so many? I mean come on lady!! We used text only and text with photos but we mixed it up so it was appealing!
Ughhhh....I cant stand her. She is on a high horse and needs to be smacked! lol
She finally gave in and boosted my grade (not sure about my groupmates since they did not fight).
sigh. 1 week left!

Well done.
I remember being marked off for a care plan wherein I used a NANDA diagnosis that my clinical instructor said was not a real diagnosis. I brought the book with me to the next class, showed her where it was in the book, and since she uses the book for reference, she had to give me the points she'd removed.
It pays to question stuff sometimes.

At least you got a grade for your group presentation. Our instructor had numerous criteria that needed to be met for the group presentations, then she told us that it would be counted as a "clinical experience" and that it would be graded as pass/fail.
Well, of course, everyone passed even though he quality of group presentations varied greatly. My group was not happy. We had created a video & I made a 6 panel full color brochure and 1 of the other groups had 1 member stand up & read their entire powerpoint to the class, that was it.
I really think we should have gotten an actual grade.

Good job. You being assertive got what you deserved! I remember a similar situation that I was in with a group presentation. Our grade came out to be a C and we all spoke with our instructor and asked her to breakdown the grading criteria. After what seemed like a long conversation (about an 1 hr), our teacher agreed that she grade poorly and changed our grade to an A!
Keep up the good work.
