I used to be a poor student meaning c or d grades only due to the fact that i wasn't as focused on my goals like now. but now that i have a goal (CRNA) and i will begin my prerequisites for nursing school, I am %100 that i will get all A's and B's from this point on. But I have at least 5yrs of C's D's and some withdrawals.Do you think this wiil affect me at all?Remember , I am on my way to becoming a GPA of 4.0, just you wait. How will my past affect what theses NA programs think of me.Has anyone made a complete turnaround and still made it to CRNA school?

You'll be fine as long as your grades from now on are strong. GPA is only one facet that the admissions people look at. GRE, years of experience, quality of that experience, certifications (CCRN), interview, and anything else they think is important.
Good luck to ya.

I graduated from my first college with a 2.85 GPA, and then went to nursing school and maintained a 3.9 GPA. I also flunked O-chem and got a D in another chem class and several C's. My prior poor performance was asked about in my interview for CRNA school, and I basically said "I went to college without the study skills necessary to succeed in the more difficult classes, and my priorities were not on my schoolwork, but once I decided to become a CRNA I made up my mind to do well in school." And guess what, I got accepted to 2 CRNA schools. I think you should be okay as long as you really buckle down and make up your mind to get nothing less than stellar grades in nursing school.

When I graduated from high school (76, ugh), my mom was on welfare. In order for her to keep receiving aid, someone in the family had to be still in school, so I signed up for some college courses. I did not want to be there. I did not want to take any classes. So the end result was: all D's and Incompletes. Of course, these grades stay on your record, but being only 18, I didn't realize this at the time.
In the middle 80's, I decided to go back to school to become a nurse. Of course, those 'old' grades showed up. I started out with a really low GPA, of course, but I did very well. I was even on the honor roll many times, and my average grade in all of the nursing classes was a "B". I was more mature, and I had a GOAL.
So don't let your past stop you from doing what you obviously want to do now. You do have a GOAL in mind now. And with that goal, you will do great.
Go for it. Let us know how you do.
Hope this helps give you the courage to try and make your dreams come true.
