I entered nursing school at 18, had some personal problems, left and worked as a tech for the next six years. After an inability to return to school (lack of funds) I became frustrated and burned out.
I have tried several career paths since then (teaching, human services ect.) none of them offered a living wage or the satisfaction I seemed to get out of being a nurses aide.
I am almost thirty, tired of career hopping, and starting to think I have come full circle. I now have the opportunity to possibly return to nursing school.
I am worried I will burn out again, but I think I would have a lot more pride in my work if I had a degree to back it up.
I am also worried because I had a tendency when I was younger to try to be supertechnician.
I am asking two questions I hope someone can answer....
How much does a hospital nurse in St. Louis make?
Are you satisfied with your job, do you take pride and feel you get respect?
I know the first question sounds material, but I have realized in my quest to save the world-that I have bills to pay! :)

I am told that 18-20/hr is the going rate, and that is for experienced. NOt sure what it is for new grads. Much better in the smaller towns.
