hi everyone,i am a new rn but was an lpn for 2+years. i have worked in psych for that time and now i am looking around to see what i want to do "when i grow up" lol.
first things first i am working per diem both at the job i did as an lpn and i am doing some home care just to pay off some bills. after that i really don't know what path to take.
i am intrigued by forensic nursing and i really think i would like working with a coroner, maybe a death invesigator something along those lines.
what i am wondering is, is there anyone here who has done forensic nursing or know how i would get started?
i have glanced around the internet and see a lot of info but i really don't know yet what to pay attention to and what is just bs.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
frank

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!! You have given tons of info. So much so that I cannot read it all right now (I hate when life gets in the way of my fun LOL) I will get to it probably tonight. I must say the more I read the more I am interested. I have always been interested in crime and that sort and yes this was before CSI which I cannot stand. That has to be the most over acted show around LOL. Give me law and order any day LOL.
I am assuming I need to get myself into an ER and start getting experiance, is this correct?
thanks again
frank
i am interested in this field, and would like to work in the coroners office. i have heard they often hire "pathology assistants" do they hire rn's? i will be cross trained in biomedical anthropology.thanks!
:balloons: hello, jrsimon82 and welcome to the forensic nursing forum:balloons:
you will need to contact your local me/coroner's office and investigate that possibility.
are you interested in taking a course in forensics?
