foreign transcript

Published

Hi! I was wondering if anyone can help me regarding my foreign highschool transcript. I am planning to get in the nursing program for January and almost every school requires a US highschool transcript. I'm thinking of getting my highschool transcript from the Philippines evaluated but they say I would still probably need to take some classes. The deadline for the applications from all the city colleges that i'm considering will be by October 1st.

The evaluation cost a lot and i need a lot of extra copies that would cost even more. I've been thinking of taking the GE test but don't know what to expect. I'm a good student but don't really know if i'll pass the test. I need some advice. Please help!

Which program are you planning to attend? You will need to have your transcripts evaluated, there is no way around that if you are planning on using those to be judged on. Admission to a nursing school in the US is quite tight now.

Your other choice is the GED but not sure if you will be able to get that finished in time. You normally need to make a reservation in advance for it, and then you have to wait for it to be graded...........trying to get that done by October 1st, as well as having your score submitted by then, is going to be almost an impossibility.

How long have you known about this?

Are you currently in the US? And on what type of visa?

Hi! Thank you for the reply. To answer your question, I've been here 4 years with a permanent resident visa. I guess there really is no way to get around it. I'll bring it over to the evaluation agency by monday and hopefully i won't have to take anymore classes.

Thanks again. :)

I have a highschool transcript from Germany and my College would not accept it neither. I had to take a Test called "Wonderlich Test" . That is a standardized test for foreign students and it evaluates your level of education. It was not very difficult. My Nursing program accepted that with my foreign transcript. I asked about taking the GED instead and they said that I can not take it since I am a highschool graduate (no matter in which country).
